I'm throwing a party for my friend's birthday and have decided to go for a kid's party theme (there will be children there!).

Now I need ideas for food, decor, games etc.

Help! Share with me your favourite childhood party things!

What ever you choose sweet, savoury and drinks must all be on the same table at the same time so that the "children" can eat before going on the bouncy castle/ trampoline and throwing it up again

So is it just a general kids party?

Food - cornflake tarts, cheese pinwheels, sandwiches with crusts removed. You could look on pinterest and get hints on how to do a Hungry Caterpillar sandwich thingeymajig. And then do mini jellies, drinks in those mini glass bottles you get with cute paper straws. You should think of a couple of house colours and match the tableware and decor so it all looks more coherent. Little cupcakes. Mini pizzas. Ooo! Fishfinger sandwiches! Pom bears! And you can go retro chic and do cheese on sticks in a hedgehog thing.

Games? Pass the parcel. Pin the tail on the donkey! A pinata? Musical chairs. Musical statues. Simon says.

Decor wise you could do polka dot theme - stick to balloons that match the plates etc. Or you can easily buy Peter Rabbit tableware.

Will you make them sit sensibly in a circle on the floor for the food off paper plates bit?

If not, then food you can run around holding but won't ch.ke eating if you fall over.

We were poor so party food highlights were things like Hula Hoops - they were brand new back then.

Have you see the ads for The Monster events. When my sister saw it she said we had to do it and make the 'children' (they're teens now) stand and watch and forcing them to look interested.

Well kids party is the theme.

The birthday boy is an adult but there will be kids aged between 3 and 10 there too.

You might need to cater with something to appeal to their more competitive nature.

Team games are good you can include them with grown ups or pitch them against grown ups.

Think of things like having races of having hands tied behind your back and crouched on the floor pushing potatoes along with your nose.

String up lines of hula hoops and race to the end to eat them the quickest. Or sugared ring donuts, who can eat the most before they fall to the floor.

Food - you gotta have sausage eclairs

I think this demonstrates that you should appoint Meli as the party organiser. I'm certainly going to bear her in mind when I have to throw one.
