When to ask for verification.

I've spent most of Friday night all day yesterday chatting to a potential lady who was very keen to meet. I've remained level headed throughout acutely aware one wrong word can ruin proceedings. However she announced she DEFINITELY was going to meet. At this point I asked her to phone me to voice verify and boy did she back off fast! My conclusion is it was a man pretending to be a woman, not unusual in our world.

But then I thought should I have asked earlier? I welcome all points of view on this.

North west ish

Was she well verified? Were there any other red flags that she was not genuine? If yes why carry on chatting. If you had been chatting a while and you pulled this trick on me I'd just block you. You have basically just called her fake.

I wouldn’t phone someone before a meet, doesn’t mean I’m fake or a man. I just don’t feel comfortable.

Was there any other warning signs?

Theres not a right or wrong time OP. Its whatever feels right for the two of you. I personally wouldn't meet anyone until I'd spoken to them a few times on the phone. I think you can get a feel for someone very quickly and also know at least you can get on in person.

No call no meet simple. This also helps ing out the married and attached folk.

Then maybe she just didn’t feel comfortable talking on the phone?

And I’m not sure when there is a ‘right’ time to ask, because I wouldn’t ask. Sorry, I’m unhelpful

I would be more suspicious of someone definitely going to meet after one afternoon chatting but hey ho.

Agree with this. No such thing as too soon. Best to be driven by your instincts on things like this

I'm new to fab as you know trying to find my feet and just wondered if there is an acceptable formula.

Hmm interesting one. If I have not had any red flags I don’t think I would ask someone to verify. I think generally you can get a feel if someone is fake pretty early on. Although some have had plenty of practice at pretending to be the opposite sex.

I have been asked to verify myself before a meet though and have had no issues doing this as I’m aware for many it can be a safety thing.

Personally though if I was going to ask someone I would have done it at the same point you did.

Everyone is different. I wouldn't call a single man. But on our couples profile I'd always call before a meet to prove I exist, as I know some couple profiles are dodgy.

Thanks this makes me feel qualified so therefore not a fool. I'm admin in another site and have instinct from experience but this one fooled me. No concern on that issue was my misjudgement, it's the verification scenario I wasn't sure of.
