I've just discovered ghosting today!

Had lots of messages, met for a social, went really well, they continued to message me and chat on the phone, arranged to meet up again. Then bam! No replies, removed me from friends list and all trace being removed. Sent a message that I now kniw what ghosting is and guess they've had a change of mind and wished them well and told them I won't contact them again! All you can do really, no idea what or why the sudden change?? Would have been nicer to have said though. I understand it happens a lot but nothing you can do other than forget it and move on?

Considering how hard it can be for men to get meets on here I'm surprised to hear women get stood up!

"Considering how hard it can be for men to get meets on here I'm surprised to hear women get stood up!"

Thing is for some guys it's the thrill of the chase, for whatever reason they have no intention of meeting, but get a kick out of knowing they could do but then pull out last minute, or are no shows.

Sorry to hear it's happened to you OP, you've not said how your time was wasted but I've usually found that taking your time to get to know someone and building a connection with them before meeting avoids it.

Even with taking the time to get to know someone and build the connection, you still get time wasters and no shows

As you say some just like the thrill of the chase and the build up but have no intention of carrying it through

Oh I'm sure and there is no magic answer but it helps minimise the risk a little all the same

They are bored and needy, here for the ego boost and sofa wankers. The need to crawl back to their cave and give the real men a better chance.

I disagree with the taking time to get to know someone. That just lays yourself open to disappointment. Arrange an initial social meet ASAP and take it from there.

That said, there are all sorts of reasons why people let you down. Some are deliberate timewasters but others have genuine life issues that interfere.

Sometimes things can happen and an awful lot of people today seem unable to say sorry or face up to the truth! It's also partly to do with the online culture as well, you don't actually know each other at all and there is absolutely no come back or consequences to deal with which makes it easy to do unfortunately.

It is how life is changing and it's definitely for the worse ... the younger generation seem to except it as normal behaviour though I always instil in my young adults that it is extremely rude and unacceptable behaviour.

Good for you, it is rude but I doubt it makes much difference to this type of person? Don't let that stop your crusade though, I'm right behind you on that.

I tend to find that not many guys just aren't interested in a social only for many reasons even if it does lead to more a second time! And whomever forbid you're not prepared to accommodate!!

I haven't been messed around on here yet thankfully but if I am I will just delete and block and forget about that person. Been stood up twice on blind dates in the past, thought either that they lost their bottle, got a better offer or they turned up and saw me and then left. I'm thicker skinned now, if I'm not for you I'd appreciate you not stringing me along bit either way I'll not lose any sleep over it

"Why do people feel the need to mess people around "

They probably getting kicks off reading this thread.

I have had it happen to me and it's not a nice feeling but we live and learn. I hope nobody has to go through that. Then you consider there are much worse things happening in the world. You get over it.

If it's happening to women on here then I would say you are looking at the wrong guys because there are lots of us guys who are looking to meet but your not finding us or repeatedly ignoring us
