20th September kicks off the Rugby Union World Cup.

We've got pool C and our entry kicks off on Sunday 22nd against Tonga.

How far are we going this tournament after Martin Johnsons absolute carnage and disaster 4 years ago?

Discuss.....

I'm holding predictions until after I've seen the warm up fixtures. Squads could look very different between now and tournament kickoff.

No reason why England shouldn’t qualify from the group. They should be aiming for a semi final spot at least.

SA are probably the inform team, Wales, I fear have peaked too soon, and All Blacks looking beatable for the first time in a decade.

I’m interested to see if Australia can turn around they crappy form and also how Japan fair at home and after a good showing in the last cup.

It's open tournament this time out I think.

No one has had a stand out season and if got can actually put a "threat" out there it's Ireland after their 6 nations campaign.

But their pool isn't easy.

**Sidenote, for all the critics that are pm'ng me to "correct" me I'm fully aware that Stuart Lancaster was given the opportunity from 2012-2015 but Martin Johnsons carnage was so bad Stuart Lancaster had absolutely no hopes of repairing it, never mind getting off the pool stages of a world cup campaign**

After seeing the six nations earlier this year I think there's a degree of expectation surrounding the English side to do well. We can beat any team in the world but stringing those performances together seems to be a hard ask.

I also don't think that Eddie Jones knows his ideal starting 15 yet and the back row (particularly 6&7), the centre pairing and scrum half are all up in the air.

There's a lot to be seen in the warm up games.

Wales and Ireland are in comparison looking settled and strong. I'm also looking forward to Scotland turning a few heads if they can keep their worldies fit.

Bear in mind that Japan last World Cup were managed by EJ...

Okay will do.

I'm happy to participate in a RWC thread rather than one created to do with England.

More often than not the wheels usually fall off the chariot. I hope that happens now aswell.

I really don't like England Rugby but please it's not personal towards anyone reading this.

Enjoy the thread, enjoy the tournament. Hope you have a terrible time.

(I will keep my eye out on a full thread closer to the time a bit more inclusive than this )

"It's an England thread is it OP?"

I'll be cheering for Wales, Ireland and Scotland just as much in the WC as I will be for England.

I'm sure as the time ticks by a much more comprehensive and detailed thread will appear that involves and includes all and every nation participating so our Welsh entry's will have plenty to comment on.

In the meantime..... Let's have a bit of fun banter with this one.

I shall cheer like a national, for all of the home nations until the last one is knocked out.

I cannot wait! Green all the way

Let’s get the warm ups out of the way, and hopefully without major injury concerns.

Nice experimental side named for Ireland tomorrow. Few guys getting a chance to throw their name in.

Joes last irish hurrah before Farrell takes the reins after the WC. Exciting times for Irish rugby!
