Would you move abroad?

Given the current state of affairs in the UK I'm curious to hear peoples views on moving abroad to start a new life. How many dream of it and how many actually would do it?

If I won the lottery then you wouldn't see me for dust, Bermuda all the way.

Have considered it for work in the past and was close to doing it. Now mortgage and age of parents would make me think harder. But Thailand would still be a difficult choice if a position appeared.

I actually left UK in April. I've had a place in Spain for 3 years just got divorced and moved over alone. I can honestly say I've never been happier and its sunny for approx 320 days a year. I'm proud to be British I served in the forces but honestly couldnt put up with the weather and costs and deteriorating attitudes these days. For me it was a no brainer.

I'm still hoping for English independence - when will we get our say? when will we have our own devolved government?

Not really my view, I'm a fan of the Union, a lot of people have given their lives for it. But it would be interesting to see what would happen if there was a vote on English independence.

Back to this thread, sorry for the deviation, I'd either move to the Mediterainian or Scotland (I have dual nationality )

We have considered it, my family is scattered across the globe with some having moved to live in vastly different cultures. The reality of moving to another country is often very different to the dream and we wouldn't do it expecting life to be better all round. It's, as so often in life more about weighing potential benefits against potential negatives.

I am in the process of trying to immigrate to nz. I've been offered a great job out there, if I get the visa I will be off by the end of the year. I have a fair few friends over there and ever since travelling the whole of nz back in the 00's, I've wanted to live on the North Island.

We moved to france 4 years ago now. It's the best decision we have ever made! Not just for us, but our son as well.

We work harder than in the uk, mainly because we work for ourselves. We decided to only work monday to friday 9-5. Cost of living is more expensive generally but we have so much more time together now.

I am not from the uk. Recently lost my Mum and inherited her House so I plan to go home one day. At the moment will just leave it as a sunshine pad and Air BNB when I’m not there.

I would love to move abroad. Unfortunately I have no experience in any field which are abroad. The only thing that would probably put me off if I was to move abroad is not have the benefit of our NHS.

Happily do so but I don't particularly have a problem with this country though.

I quite like it here as it happens, but I'd have no issue with moving abroad if it was for an opportunity to better myself or my kids

"I actually left UK in April. "

Absolutely. Quality of life far superior to UK. The costas are there if you are in need tetley tea bags. I'd avoid ex-pat colonies personally so as not to get dragged down. Much rather embrace local culture.

I actually want to move to London by January I'm a little fed up and I feel like it'll give me the direction I need. I also want to move out, I solo traveled a lot in the last year and I love the feeling of Independence. It'll do me good.

I like where I live at the moment but if I had to move abroad it would probably be either Canada or New Zealand.

No. I couldnt be that far away from my eldest and grandson. I'm already considering a move up North and that's far enough

When the children are older, I’d love to move some where hot and sunny (but not Spain) for half a year and north wales the other half of the year.

That would depend how things pan out over the next few years.

So right now, no chance.

In the future if I could afford it... well.

Yes will move to New Zealand, only thing holding me back is my father in law, once he’s gone then will go. Can’t leave him on his own wouldn’t be right.

"Given the current state of affairs in the UK I'm curious to hear peoples views on moving abroad to start a new life. How many dream of it and how many actually would do it? "

I had this idea of living in Spain or Portugal.

Brexit will remove my right to do so.

So now I wonder how to regain that right.

My Irish ancestry is too distant to qualify for an Irish passport.

My view of Scottish independence has changed because of Brexit.

I was quite neutral before. Now it is my only route to regaining EU citizen rights.

"Nope, wouldn’t do it.

I’m still hoping for Scottish independence "

So is England. ...

I'd always keep the UK as my main home, but I wouldn't object to a few overseas holiday homes....
