.

A good friend rings you and asks if you can meet for coffee as they need an ear to bend.

A football, rugby, F1 or even a much anticipated film is about to start....

What would you do

a) make an excuse, a total lie

b) tell the truth and say no

c) stick the recorder on and dash out the door

d) suggest they come to you, so you can watch and listen at the same time

to be totally honest, it would depend the mood I was in.

If I thought I could add value, I would cancel everything for them. I can be very intolerant at times, so if I thought I wouldn't be able to give good advice on this occasion, I would say so.

and check in with them the next day.

King's Crustacean

people come first always

Drop everything for a friend in need but NOTHING for a pain in the ass....

Course... you have to be sensible. I wouldn't walk out of work to listen to a pal they'd have to wait till after work.

If it is a good friend, then I would drop everything, as I know he/she would do the same for me.

Even the people we all probably know one of... The ones who go from crisis to crisis to crisis, from one bad judgement to another.. With little or no ownership of resolution....

I know people like that, I like them greatly but many times I will have heard it all before ?

if yes, I admire you all.

I couldn't guarantee it.

I suffered with depression a few years ago and part of my problem was I use to take on others problems as on outside I was life and soul of everything while on inside I just couldn't cope as I then felt I couldn't unload on anyone else. Now I value me time and if it sounds harsh so be it I would have to tell them would see them another day and have infact had to tell a friend a cpl yrs ago that I couldn't talk to her as her beinging depressed was pulling me down as well. I know heartless bitch me.

I'd hit record, ask for a brief description of the problem, tell them I was sorry, but I'd got Botswanan licorice fever or something, tell them to cheer up and then phone all our mutual friends saying "youll never guess whats up with that dick head again ?" A friend in need,is a pain in the duodenum !

Tell 'em to 'Fuck off'.

If they were any kind of friend they'd take your feelings into consideration and do one............
