Important to get this done when it’s due, seeing Jade Goody’s programme advertised made me think about it. My last one was all clear. Are you up to date with yours?

Haven’t had one yet. Kept asking for one, and was told no, I’m too young.

I’ll get one once I’ve given birth though.

Although my friend was in the same boat - and when she finally did give birth and get her smear test done, they decided not to test it! Took her seven months to convince them to do it again and actually test it.

Please get yourselves checked. A friend had some suspect cells found at her last check up - thankfully she's had the all clear now. Not sure if there's an 'at risk' age distinction but she's still in her 20s, so demand one if you must.

I've had pre-cancer of the cervix, sixteen months after a negative routine smear test.

So ladies, please go. And gents..ask your wives, girlfriends, sisters, friends....

I find it absolute madness that the age range has increased. Every woman should have it done from becoming sexually active.

I’m due one shortly after 3 years, a long gap for me and dreading waiting for the results, for 15 years I was on yearlies

Me too, it’s a scary place to be. Mine was after a borderline result in the March and two months later I was C4, it can move very quickly indeed

"Is it important if they are sexually inactive??"

Yes, if they haven't had the HPV vaccination, the HPV can still be present. HPV ISN'T an STI Get them to book up

Agree on this used to work in an affiliated area and we take for granted the choices we have. Choose to engage with all this. Better to know, manage and deal with sooner.

Guys need to get their bits checked too, we’re quite bad at it.

My smears done 2009-2015 always come back inconclusive so more tests was needed. I gad stage one and it went into stage 2 before they removed the tube,

I'm currently still showing signs but being monitored and decided 10 days ago to have other tube out

So please get regular tests

To add to this, it’s really important you really know your bodies and your cycle and recognise any changes

The smear test only picks up problems with the cervix and not your womb or ovaries

If you get a brick wall from a GP ask for a second opinion. I knew something wasn’t right as was spotting and sex was painful, I was dismissed by one as it’s nothing it will sort itself out

Let’s say I’m grateful I pushed for a second opinion

Sea of jelly and doughnuts

Had mine yesterday, also had an ultrasound as fibroids run in my family as does breast cancer.... I'm a hypochondriac so I'm always asking for tests if something with my body doesn't feel right.

Yep had mine a couple of months ago. I actually ended up having a colposcopy before I was old enough for smears due to bleeding from my cervix. Turned out to be another thing related to my endometriosis and nothing cancer related thank God and it is now treated and not causing issues. It was a scary wait for that appointment though!
