I genuinely give a shit, I want people to leave smiling, I want people to think I've made their day brighter in some way because I care, because I'm interested and because I couldn't actually give 2 fucks how much they're spending, what matters to me is that they've had a good time whether it's been a relaxing one, one filled with laughter, whatever and knowing I've contributed to that is what keeps me going in a job that can be made very frustrating by people complaining about things that need not be complained about. Example: customer complains that staff are stood around drinking. Reality: stupidly hot day, very busy. Staff member has glass of water by the printer. Customer wants bill. Staff member takes swig of water whilst bill is printing, taking up no time at all, in fact using that time very well to hydrate between running round like a loon not detracting from the customers. Customer who is looking for any excuse to complain sees this as the perfect one. Now we aren't allowed drinks unless we go out the back because someone complained. P | |||

I put my heart and soul into my job even though it bites me in the arse on a regular basis, because sometimes you get fucking lovely people in who see your value, your worth and the fact you care and they treat you as not just a person, but a friend or part of the family too. Not inferring anything. Even a "Hello" or "Hi" is everything ok ? is better than being called "Guys". It does not detract from the actual Service given. It was a General question about the usage of the Word " Guys" it would be pretty odd to say this to a single party anyway. Others have said Terminology evolves and some say they don't mind. It was a General question, no more than that. Personally we do mind. | |||

I've had a knife to my throat, been crushed between a wall and door, chairs thrown at me, a baguette thrown at me, spat at numerous times, plates thrown at me, been told they know where I live and by the time I get home my house will by burned to the ground, I've even had people hanging around outside when I've finished work because I've not given in to their unreasonable demands. I've also made some wonderful friends, been part of birthdays, funerals, invited to family get togethers even though I'm not family, I'm just the waitress from their favourite restaurant. P | |||

That's awful! They should have told the customer that humans need water. I was in a place this week where the staff had their water bottles all lined up on a table. Both wear uniform's and take a lot more Shite than some of you could possibly imagine. Knives, being spat at, called all sorts of names is routine. It was a General question, nothing more than the Word Guys, but as usual some have blown it out of all context If you don't agree then say you don't, but to bring all the other Crap into it doesn't make sense.
