It got lost in the ether. That's why it's best to send messages hourly when they're online

It means they haven’t read it and it’s still in their inbox. Or they’ve read it and marked it as ‘unread’

In our case we aren't inundated so we can keep our clean. If we're not interested we'll delete or reply with an explanation. We don't keep unread messages.

You can read the first couple of lines before you even open it & if nothing of interest is on it well I don’t open it

So start all messages with "you've just won a free pamper day at a luxury spa..."

Start it with "I'm Chris Hemsworths doppelgänger...."

would get my attention. But woe betide you if your aren't.

Why worry about the unread messages... concentrate on the replied to ones

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

There are lots of reasons.

Sometimes it's because I just can't be arsed to open and read them all.

Sometimes I'm chatting to friends or on the forums.

Sometimes I read the first line and don't want to open it.

Sometimes I do want to read it but know that it will result in a chat and I'm eithr busy or not in the mood to chat.

Too many to read and reply to, the first line didn’t catch my attention enough to want to open it

Do I follow up with another and risk being thought of as a pushy git or do I wait forever for reply ?

Somewhere near here

Some I mark as unread to go back to and decide then if I want to reply. As done to a guy apparently 2 weeks ago and had a rather snotty message from him this evening because of it then blocked me. Didn’t know I meant so much

Read, deleted and no reply. Excitement turns to a sinking feeling with a wry smile.

It's fab don't take it so serious he says

It's a secret

A wise person of fab (if there is such a thing haha) ) once told me when she deletes your message. It's finished. The flame does not exist

Sometimes it's coz I can't be arsed.

Sometimes it's coz I'm not in the mood to converse privately.

I know at times (usually if something is on my mind/tired etc) my mojo/libido is pretty much like a dodo and flirting doesn't come naturally at all during that time, so it would feel awkward and unnatural.

P

"I saw the first line of it, and could be arsed to open it."

With that in mind , is it the first line or is it a character count that we can see initially?
