Rightfully imprisoned. But what does it say that he was believed credible for so long?

Hailsham

Blame Jimmy Savile and Paul Gadd ... makes the authorities far more twitchy with accusations now

"Rightfully imprisoned. But what does it say that he was believed credible for so long?"

That people believe victims and want to help them get justice?

can I ask why is negative news so popular, people who do evil things should not be advertised, punished yes but splattered all over the news, I personally am not interested, I think the global fascination with paedophiles is actually increasing their numbers and of course the world wide Web aides it to, lock them up and forget about them.

Great that Harvey Proctor is going to stand against Tom Watson in the next election, serve TW right!

A lot of people should be apologising for believing Beech's garbage. But they won't.

Playing devils advocate...if there are p@edo rings at high levels (and realistically it won't be a "if") do you really think they'd allow it all to be exposed?

Easier to discredit and jail the whistleblower.

If you are powerful and corrupt you can pretty much get away with whatever you like.

Don’t think she’s saying that. That’s why he was believed.

You should always believe the victim.

Up to a point when the evidence fails scrutiny.

And it seems the Police didn’t do their job properly at all. Hence the cheques they are currently writing.

He should rot in jail quite rightly but the Police should be scrutinised over this.

Tom Watson is another who should be looked at.

Look at the recent case in Cyprus. Victim believed arrests made.

Evidence scrutinised. And now victim arrested and getting sued as well. Rightly so.

Not quite true. Lords have been prosecuted in the past. Beech had all the credentials and motives for a lying, attention seeking, money making dangerous individual

Hi there Tom Watson, didn't know you were on this site!

Report out today by the High Court Judge who investigated said the police almost certainly committed crimes by asking for search warrants falsely, and the Independent Police Complaints Authority whitewashed them. Those guilty should be prosecuted, the report said.

THAT is the real conspiracy. Will any plods actually end up in the dock? Don't hold your breath!

I hope they don't end up in the dock. Clearly the search warrants turned up no evidence or the celebs would have been charged.

Better they investigate the serious allegations than just drop the case.

Cheshire/Staffs

The justice system is in a mess through cuts to it and to policing. Politicians have also ridden roughshod over it in the hunt for cheap votes. Read the Secret Barrister’s book.

We must fix our broken system and allow people to get the justice they deserve.

Police waste millions investigating historic crimes when often the alleged perpetrator is dead. I just want an officer to attend when I am burgled now...

The police were damned for not taking other allegations seriously.

Now they are damned for taking these allegations seriously.

Whatever the rights or wrongs, I hope it does not deter victims coming forward in future.

They didn't look up past notes and inconsistencies. That's the failure plus costs to taxpayers and people's reputations.

There was a significant gay ring (it was illegal, wrongfully, at the time) within the houses of parliament that was connected to the Krays, fact.
