How do you define disrespectful or rude in this instance OP? As Stingly says there's a big difference between sending abusive replies and simply not answering a message.

Either way look at it this way, by doing whatever they did they proved they were not for you so it's win-win really

Your going to get a similar levels of rude respectless fkrs of both sexes on here as you might in real life, if not more. Getting away with what they wouldn't in person is easier via the keyboard. Coming online to play up and speak to others like sh1t and do their thing, because they can, is a pastime for many. The keyboard certainly brings out the dark respectless persona in many.
