Name badges

Is it just me that hates shop assistants wearing name badges on their chest?

I can see the point that it makes things friendlier but the shoppers don't wear them and the assistants name makes no difference to the actual service.

This is just a small part of it though, as I never know whether I should use their name and say hello. If I do it shows I have been looking at their chest which is awkward, if I don't I may come across as rude.

It's for complaining/praising more than anything else....

If a customer has a comment about a member of staff they know who their on about.....

As cabin crew, we have to wear name badges. Trouble is, it’s written so small, passengers have to look really close at my chest. Ha

Hadn't thought of that, but even so, wouldn't it be simpler to ask their name. I'd not want to go to the manager to complain about the girl on till number 4 with Mandy on her chest.

I used to be a bar manager and the owner insisted on name tags.

I hated them, I used to swap them around, I was known as Dave for the longest time.

It helps in places like clothes shops where you don't know who is staff or who is a customer!

Isn't that the point of a uniform? Do they stop and search customers for name tags on the way in?
