Have you ever had psychotherapy? What type; psychodynamic, existential, transactional analysis, integrative, others (I’m a bit meh about CBT in this context)...? Did you have any breakthroughs? Have you ever got the feels (transference) for your therapist? Is therapy worth it?

My ex was a counsellor and very good at helping others.

She was blind as a bat about adding those positive thoughts to her personal life with me. Too close in I guess, however she helped many OTHER people.

I had CBT

I didn’t get much from it to be honest as she just seemed to tell me how I was feeling was ok and about filing things in boxes

I'd love to have one

I swear the stories I'd tell him just to see how he/she handles them

Had Ipnotherapy (censored word?!) for smoking. The guy started massaging my knees and then started whispering in my ear. It didn't work as I looked at him over my shoulder with a why tf are you an inch from my ear type look and he stood back. The acupuncture he did may have though as I quit for a good 4 years.

CBT works for specific behavioural changes, I don’t see it as psychotherapy at all - it’s a plaster over a deeper wound.

I also had cbt, light therapy, is that the same thing? I only went once because I thought it was a waste of my time. He was asking me loads of questions, I said what I thought he wanted to hear, made myself cry, left and never went back.

He was a very sweet man but it just wasn't for me. Maybe I should have taken it more seriously
