Savers vs live life to the full

Okay, so I've been having quite a few discussions with people. I'm quite the believer in trying to put myself in a better position financially for the future.

Then you have the types that say, but you might die tomorrow, live your life for fun and go crazy and explore and hope things will work out tomorrow.

Which are you?

I do tend to attract "free spirits" and whilst my work is fun and creative, I also think about the future. very different from the types i tend to date!

Anyone care to share their experiences?

Presumable you have a generous trust fund... I try to do both but I save less than I need to and still can’t throw money around and live the lifestyle I would like to.. another £20k a year would sort it

Someone has to pay for the NHS, schools, police, armed forces, roads etc etc... so don’t begrudge paying tax.

Problem is some of us are taxed more heavily than others. I payed a tax bill that exceeded 50% of my earnings last year when student loan repayments etc are taken into account.

We all do when stealth taxes (i.e V.A.T, booze, petrol, etc) are taken into consideration.

I’m very much a live for the moment kind of gal, which is why i’m constantly broke and live with my mum (although technically i live with her as she isn’t well but still...).

I am not responsible with money at all.

I also have mental health issues and intend to buy things to make myself feel better which doesn’t help.

Being hard up at retirement isn't fun.

Save for the future, you'll regret it if you don't.

I've always been careful with money and have always had savings, various ISAs running and owe no money other than my mortgage. However, times have been tough and sometimes I do think I should just spend some. I have 3 pensions too so am hoping I'll do okay in old age (if I get there ).
