PCN yes. Parking eye not sure. I’ve got a couple and people are saying don’t pay them as they can’t do anything. I’m in 2 minds to be honest.

The law changed a while ago so it's now case law. If you have the money then try to fight it if you will but you stand virtually no chance of overturning it.

If you fucked up and parked somewhere you shouldn't have/for too long etc then put your hand up and pay it.

Yes ,companies are more litigious than they used to be and will pursue a charge . If you have a legitimate reason to challenge then popla is the route I think

Whilst I absolutely agree with what you're saying, parking companies and now nailing down their practices so that they generally only ticket you when you're in the wrong.

I've had a few over the years and I never paid the private parking ones.

But awhile back I received one in the post and I asked about it and was advised just to ignore it.. So I did and eventually they started sending me letters from a solicitor.

I googled the solicitor and all the reviews were basically saying that they were cowboys, so I ignored those letters too.

Now I just got back home from working away and I have received a letter from the same solicitor again, telling me that it was going to court and I have recieved another letter from a County Court.. Saying that if I didn't pay by the 19th they could send bailiffs to recover the costs.

I had bought a ticket but I put my old reg number on it. I realised after I did it and I put a note in the window.

It was the camera which had me.

I’ve had the ones where I’ve obviously stopped on the yellow bit going through lights for some reason. I’ve got 3 people insured on my car. If they can’t prove who was driving it in the pic they can’t do anything. I just say I don’t know who was driving it at that time. Nothing they can do then obviously. Got away with it 3 times doing that

And therefore in the eyes of the law, you were wrong. Not trying to beat up on you or anything of the sort but that's how it'll be seen. The same as if you'd got a pay and display ticket and it'd slipped off your dashboard etc. The onus is on you to display a correct, valid ticket.

And another one which I think was called Gemini. They tried to make me pay a parking charge for the 5 minutes that it took to buy the ticket. And they also charged lots! Of people for driving into a car park to have their car washed.

It seems if you know the law, you can legally rob someone.

Have you had any letters advising you of a court hearing? If you have and you didn't attend you may have had a judgement against you. You should have reference case numbers on the court correspondence. You may be better ringing the court to see. Not sure if you can or could get it set aside if you didn't attend.

Have you had any letters advising you of a court hearing? If you have and you didn't attend you may have had a judgement against you. No not advising me of a court hearing. I just had the one from a county court justice buisness Centre.

It says the creditor has asked for a warrant to be issued to the bailiff to sieze goods.

Unless I pay the amount to the county court.

Thing is I wasn't even driving the vehicle at the time the fine was picked up. No letters were even sent out and the court didn't even know the hearing had happened. Loads of people have been caught out the same. All for a £1.40 parking charge I was fuming.

The cost went up but only to a top amount until its paid. My £1.40 eventually cost me £280.

If there are no signs then there is no contract between you and the company: do not pay. If there are signs they will state the conditions of your contract for leaving your car on what is essentially private land. This is an agreement between you and the parking company for wh8 h the court will find in favour of the company. Extenuating circumstances may count, for example if you have a record of paying for the parking on an old number plate, the court may decide in your favour as your intent was to pay, note "may"

PCNs are issued by the local authority and supported by a TRO (traffic regulation order) I would advise you to pay these, if you pay quick they are usually 50% of face value

Yes and no. Because these private parking companies are crooks.

They're pushing the law to the limit to fleece people.

I have 6 that I have got since being back in the UK, appealed them all to stall for time, fly back home a week tomorrow, so they got no chance of being paid.

I know of someone who is a lawyer and when he received a parking charge in the post.. He went along with it and went to court.

He ended up being paid over 1200 quid from the parking company who took him to court lol.

It just goes to show that, if you know the law, you can fleece people.

Unfortunately I know nothing, so il most likely have to pay.

Yes but you would of had a letter from the county court with an official stamp on it telling you about the date and case number ... some of these companies send out very convincing letters to look like fines and solicitor letters and county court summons...

These companies are vile, money-grabbing leeches and stop at nothing to extract as much cash out of you as they possibly can. They have been emboldened by that judgement.
