Implosion

I have been researching the USS Thresher. Lost with all hands at nearly 2000ft beneath the waves, 1963.

During trials, soldered pipes burst and it sunk below crush depth. The resulting implosion equivalent to detonating 2000 tonnes of TNT happened in 0.2 seconds. Not enough time to register in the human brain. Though they knew they were sinking.

First of all RIP to those lost, but my question is who else like me could never happily do down in a sub?

A horrific and scary way to die. I'd rather take my chances with the bullets, mortars and IEDs thankyou.

It wouldn't hurt for long.. but youd have longer to contemplate your doom.

"I think you've got the bends."

Would imagine anyone would have the bends if they went down on you. They’d definitely come back up very quickly

Bravo. It's probably in bad taste given the subject but I thought it was clever.
