Only if you want to

If you should go skating on the thin ice of modern life, dragging behind you the silent reproach of a million tear-stained eyes, don't be surprised when a crack in the ice appears under your feet. You slip out of your depth and out of your mind, with your fear flowing out behind you as you claw the thin ice.

Stretched to the point of no turning back....

A flight of fancy on a windswept field...

Standing alone my senses reeled, there's no sensation to compare with this.....

I've got the obligatory Hendrix perm, and I've got the inevitable pinhole burns all down the front of my favourite satin shirt. I've got nicotine stains on my fingers; I've got a silver spoon on a chain. I've got a grand piano to prop up my mortal remains. I've got wild staring eyes, and I've got a strong urge to fly ... but I've got nowhere to fly to.

All that you touch

And all that you see

All that you taste

All you feel

And all that you love

And all that you hate

All you distrust

All you save

And all that you give

And all that you deal

And all that you buy

Beg, borrow or steal

And all you create

And all you destroy

And all that you do

And all that you say

And all that you eat

And everyone you meet

And all that you slight

And everyone you fight

And all that is now

And all that is gone

And all that's to come

And everything under the sun is in tune

But the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.. No one told you where to run you missed the starting gun

The sun is the same in a relative way but you’re older. Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking

Racing around to come up behind you again.

The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.

If you didn't care what happened to me,

And I didn't care for you

We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain

Occasionally glancing up through the rain

Wondering which of the buggers to blame

And watching for pigs on the wing

I love the use of the word bugger. It's at the end of The Wall as well.

And when they've given you their all

Some stagger and fall, after all it's not easy

Banging your heart against some mad bugger's wall

Isn't this where we...

I saw Roger Waters The Wall a couple of years ago. Amazing show.

This is me at the moment I feel.

Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.

Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way

The time is gone, the song is over,

Thought I'd something more to say.

I would have loved to have seen them live before they split, unfortunately I was too young and first saw them in 88. Roger Waters recent Wall tour was an immense production though, with the benefits of modern projectors, computer animations and surround sound system, still would trade that to see it done by the original band members though.

Mother, do think she's dangerous... to me?

Mother, will she tear your little boy apart?

Mother, will she break my heart?

Hush now baby, baby, don't you cry.

Mamma's gonna check out all your girlfriends for you.

Mamma won't let anyone dirty get through.

Mamma's gonna wait up till you get in.

Mamma will always find out where you've been

Mamma’s gonna keep baby healthy and clean

Lyrics about Pink Floyd....

Emily woke up

She wasn't sleeping at all

Syd Barrett told me he'd never have written The Wall

Cos Pink Floyd are shit he said

They won't admit it yet

But Pink Floyd are shit he said

Yeah

I have to get my prescription today

Or a scooter or a trike

I don't have a car

We don't know, it was a stand alone single release that didn't sell too well, there's a promo video on YouTube which is excellent too!

It was their last single until 1979 and Another Brick Pt2.

However, it was the final encore number in Nick Masons' Saucerful Of Secrets set last year.

Not lyrics, but good memories...

When I lived in Wiltshire I had rented a workshop on a farm which was essentially Nick Masons driveway. He used to fly in and out in his helicopter over my shed.

There was a private church 100 yards from my workshop where his daughter got married, and the Crunchie acrobatic display planes put on a private wing walking show.

Never got to meet him in 13 years but saw him messing about in his cars plenty of times
