Self imposed spending Ban

I said to some work mates this morning, that i am on a self imposed ban, from buying new underwear, new shoes and clothes for the next 3 months so i can get the rest of the cash together for the extension (i have most of it) and i refuse to get a loan or go overdrawn.

I am doing overtime on and off for the next few months as well

This started a whole morning of banter, silliness and someone who i very occasionally share my bed with (dont start about work and pleasure dont mix lol) also bet me a spa break i couldnt do it for a week let alone 3 months

I have took contact less payment off my phone and card.

I am only taking 25.00 a week ( im taking food into work with me)

I am not taking any cards to work with me

and starting a spending Table diary (this is enough to give you a heart attack)

Any other ideas to stop me spending?

What a great idea OP. Sell unwanted stuff online and put the cash physically into a jar.

In my experience, the only thing that works is self discipline. If you want to spend, you'll find a way...

To save more money, the batch cooking suggestion (batch and freeze) is great. Also, could you walk more than using car / bus / train?

Finally, I did a massive clear out last year before we moved house. Sold loads of stuff on eBay and local fb groups and it pretty much paid for our moving costs. Surely you'll have stuff you don't wear, or don't use.

Be ruthless. xx Niki

Chippenham Malmesbury area

Car share/cycle/walk to work (if possible); if this is option and you have a vehicle then maybe you could SORN it and get a rebate on your Road Tax and insurance.

Cancel phone contract and get a pay as you go SIM also cancel pay to view services (if you have them).

It's only for 3 months so non of the above are too hard to do for such a short period.

Just seen your status; swingers club, cool if it's free for single females but hitting the town? You won't get far on £25.00. The bit about self discipline is key to achieving your goals.

Too right! Go to the club and have the wildest time ever - you need those 3 months to recover!

Cheshire

Monzo account, prepaid card. Add the money you intend to budget and lock all the others away. If it's not available on the card you won't spend it then

I don't know if this falls under the table diary but keep a little black book to note down every penny you spend
