Yep because my sister had breast cancer in her 40s they are a bit weary about putting me on anything told the doctor this week they need to do something because my life is shit at the min,so referring me to menopause clinic... got no libido what so ever which is really upsetting me at the min... and when your being told it’s all in your head and chill out is making it worse. Well most I would think know that it's not just in your mind, just help yourself as much as you can with exercise, diet etc until you see the menopause clinic. They have lots of support groups on Facebook they may help you with advice and stuff.

Physical is part of it yes but it's always the mind that's affected by those chemical and hormonal imbalances.

It's the reason we feel pleasure and pain. It's why feel good one minute and then shit the next.

If we are anything we are our brain.

On loads of face book links for menopause and all they do is slag of other half’s, and I know it’s frustrating for them but it’s frustrating for the women as well we don’t do it on purpose but they don’t understand which isn’t there fault but gets so frustrating when you have to explain it all the time but getting back all the time you can’t keep blaming the menopause but you know it is . That must get frustrating as we know it's not all in our heads. And it's an awful process especially for some women x

I've been in n out of the menopause a few times to attempt to treat endometriosis and adenomyosis.

Hrt helped my symptoms enormously. However I know with your history that might not be the best..there are some natural options, but unsure of their efficacy.

I've put on 3-4 stone that I'm findin hard to shift and the hormonal shifts are ridiculous. One minute sobbing at a TV ad with kittens in it, the next incredibly irritated with the fact I can't get the lid off the coffee.

And this is before I hit the menopause proper.

I'm going through it and it can be hell at times!

But if you do some research and scout around there are alternatives. I ve found mine a magnet which has improved my symtoms tenfold.

Won t mention it here as I'll probably be banned for promoting it. If need details dm me.

That sounds like a lot of 'hard work' it's bad enough and long enough having menopause just once. Some of us get a tough deal. I hope managed to find relief for your symptoms without having to suffer menopause on top of it x

It's been a hard road but after almost 28 years (diagnosed 16 years) n 12 surgeries I'm now running out of options.

I pretty much just have to use morphine for pain management and wait for the menopause, as with my combo of issues a hysterectomy won't help much.

Hi yes it is.

And it works for me. Been using it nearly 2 years hardly a sweat, albeit little ones which go as quickly as they arrive, and that includes the night ones.

Would recommend trying it if you don t want to go down the chemical route.

"Menopause is shit is anyone else going through it and feels like crap,no self confidence don’t feel sexy at all feel fat putting weight on etc... boooooo"

Yep

Until around a year ago I smugly thought I was sailing through peri. Periods a tiny bit irregular but no other worries.

And then I started having night sweats ... waking up in cold wet sheets at worst, but nearly always uncomfortably hot and clammy. Insomnia followed, never a good night's sleep - duvet on and off all the time for the temperature changes. A huge rise in anxiety and fear, plus the absolute rage (though admittedly I'm not sure how much that's menopausal and how much it's the current state of the country ). Painful joints, and relatively simple physical tasks exhausting me. Suddenly feeling very overwhelmed whenever it's hot, despite usually loving the sun. I've also gained weight disproportionately to what I eat which upsets me greatly. And bastard witch hairs sprouting where there used to be none ... I *am* turning into the sort of stereotypical 'old crone' you find in Grimm's Fairy Tales.

I honestly feel as if my body's betraying me ... like, woah, stop it, this isn't how you're supposed to work! Either that or I've been taken over by an unattractive alien

I have literally just started HRT (over the counter stuff like Menopace made no difference) so will see if that helps with any of my symptoms. My doctor said that joints like oestrogen for example and suffer when you produce less. I hope so.

"Menopause is shit is anyone else going through it and feels like crap,no self confidence don’t feel sexy at all feel fat putting weight on etc... boooooo"

Well, I’m a big fat woman with swollen legs to begin with so I had hang ups there. I’m beginning to be peri but swinging has helped my confidence immeasurably.

A nice man fingering and eating one’s cunt does help lift the spirits. Especially if he’s a bit younger. But don’t exclude older chaps too. They know how to hit the spot more.

Get out there lady. Do it in spite of your body and then it’ll catch up. Indulge your needs and have respite from the menopause.

I’m going through it, wasn’t doing too bad then I started the night sweats and insomnia, gaining weight. Memory loss and utter exhaustion. I tried natural remedies like black cohosh that worked for a bit then stopped so now I’m on hrt and it’s been helping. Though I’m back at the doctors as my breasts feel as though I’ve just given birth and are so sore and heavy. All in the mind, I wish it was that easy x

I’m going through it and has probably been one of the toughest time of my life. Ive really suffered the last few years with lots of symptoms. Tried a few herbal treatments but nothing’s working. Finally plucked up the courage to go to the docs this week and got some medication, which hopefully will do something. It’s nice to have people who understand but it’s hard to talk to friends and family about it. So I’m getting some help from a woman’s welfare service. Plenty of women suffer on their own so I’m now doing something about it.

I think menopause is perhaps as much of a taboo subject as periods were until comparatively recently. Older women might be talking about it amongst themselves but it's not spoken about publicly, or at least not very often, and perhaps younger women don't want to think about it because a) they hope they can get through it unscathed and b) it's a bit scary emotionally, arguably representing the end of your 'youth' so to speak. It's certainly not a fashionable topic ... I read something recently which more or less said that the trials and tribulations of whingey, angry, sweaty, middle aged menopausal women don't exactly generate exciting headlines!

Anyway, having also just started medication, I've been doing quite a lot of Googling about it and can recommend a site called Menopause Matters which has a wealth of info about it all.

I had decapeptyl injections for 3 years freezing my ovaries due to severe hormonal problems

it put me into artificial menopause. I gained 3 stone, bad memory loss, hot flashes etc

I couldnt cope any more so stopped the injections

took a full year for the injections to come out of my system to find I'm naturally in menopause so no escaping the effects

I'm losing weight very slowly. high protein, low carb diet and lifting weights which helps bone strength too

After a life saving operation last year, followed by sepsis, I have been forced into full menopause.

There is no way to explain the effect it has had.

They gave me no HRT so went into full hormone crash.

As a woman, believe me there is nothing worse.

Torture doesn't come close.

Up and down now as finally got put on meds to help.

But the doctors have no clue.

Awaiting an appointment with the specialist but no chance till December

I second that last part, my first doc told me I had "serious psychological issues relating to my periods".

Second consultant told me 3 months later that I was the worst case of endo he'd seen in 15 years.

If it doesn't feel right, demand answers, you know your body.

"I've been in n out of the menopause a few times to attempt to treat endometriosis and adenomyosis.

I'm coming back as a bloke..I can handle to odd kick to the knackers n embarrassing erections.

Jeez...you've been through the mill xx

I have but it's made me who I am and when I get good days I grab the fwb by the ...well I don't waste it. "

That's the way to do it..celebrate the good days

I think the comments made about it all being in the mind and will pass soon just shows that some men simply haven’t got the first idea!

My wife is peri-menopausal and it has caused her a whole host of physical issues and I support her as best I can. She is sensitive to Oestrogen which causes horrendous migraines so HRT is not option for he - she has to just get through it - I genuinely feel for her.

Many moons ago I used to work in the Pharma industry and sell HRT. Whilst not suitable for all (as above), many saw it as life changing .... just wish it was suitable for my wife.

That's a great attitude towards it. Especially as it must be difficult for partners also

I've had 'hot bones for some time now but recently things got worse. Constant overheating, aches and pains, internal tremors, exhaustion and emotional.

I have started some self help. I'm now taking Maca powder and supplements for women 50 plus. I have found that whatever temperature my feet are the rest of my body is so I try to keep them cool.

It's early days so it might just be coincidence or even the placebo effect but my symptoms are much reduced.

I give my respect and hugs to you ladies and your loved ones who are suffering but enduring.

After reading this thread I've realised just how many of us are suffering dreadfully from menopausal symtoms.

This would be good as a permanent go to option to share what works/doesn t for some and alternative options besides hrt

etc...

Although not a 'swinging topic'

quite clearly from this there a a need for help and support.

I am going through this too it's horendous. I went to see the doctor she put my antidepressants up, the flushes went from constant day/night to only a few. I also use wilkinson's own brand £2 for a month supply.

It's great you're giving her support many ladies don't have it from their partners.
