It's no more fucked up than the rest of the world (OK maybe a little) just in different ways.

I'm a bit of a sucker for a good desert and the USA has some great ones.

Forests, Mountains, Ocean'S, Great whites, bears, mountain lions..

Native Americans, cowboys, Civil War, Gold Rush, Alamo, Basketball, Ice Hockey..

Yeah.. I like America and most Americans I've had the fortune to meet.

Could say something similar about most countries and people.

Just got back today from a holiday in New York. Love it, love the people, love the architecture but don’t get the pancake/waffle smothered in syrup and served with eggs, bacon and sausages TOGETHER. Just wrong.

I have family and extended family and friends out there. All lovely people and I love visiting them. I wouldn’t make a sweeping generalisation about the whole country but I’ve not met any stereotypical Americans or had any negative experiences so I prefer to judge on my own personal perception of it. I’ve encountered far more hateful arseholes in this country

It really depends what aspects your talking about. In my old job I worked a lot with Americans and it made me see them in a total different light. Seemed to me Americans are very different in outlook, attitude and world veiw depending where in USA they come from. It's so easy to get a distorted or half picture of America from the media. So I can't really genrallise or cast judgment on America as a whole. On the whole I've come to really like more Americans than I've disliked. I've genrally found them very warm and freindly. As to state policy they are as harmful, greedy and self intrested as any other country that has or have wielded such power. If it wasn't them it'd be someone else. Having said that as critical as I am at American state policy and the global piracy of American corporations it's better them that the likes of China or Putin's Russia. Plus I can think of far worse country's to have a military unmatched in capability and global reach than America.

Been there four times, and loved every single time. Has some amazing scenery, interesting/historic places to visit, friendly people, great food and drink, and cheap too.

Will definitely be returning at some point to explore some more - I'd love to do a big road trip.
