Inspired by the overthinking thread...

Do you find yourself obsessing about what other people might think? Does it stop you doing things or saying things? Or seeing certain people?

Away for Christmas

Yes but not in a way that I need them to like me. More so a case of confirmation that I truely am, and coming across the type of person I think I am.

If somebody likes me or doesn't like me that is on them and I don't care. However I like to know I am seen by others how I see myself.

I stop caring what people think about me as a person when I was at school. But it doesn't mean I don't mind what I say, there's no need to mindlessly offend people, we are all different and kindness should be a basic default. After that we are entitled to different opinions, how we express them is key. I prefer to discuss differences of opinion as an adult through open discussion and respect for the others right to an opposing or different view. But I will draw the respect line at anything the is morally wrong.

To some degree, yes. I don't obsess or overthink others thoughts, actions and how they perceive me. Well I do overthink it but that's rarely.

Has it stopped me from meeting someone? Not so far. It might in the future.

Oh as far as saying things go - yes, it does. I like to think I have basic manners and I don't want to needlessly offend someone because my need to spout crap is more important than their feelings.

A very good friend of mine suffers from crippling anxiety because she is so obsessed with what others think and has a seriously damaging heightened sense of self. It’s completely alien to me because I am under no illusions whatsoever that I am of any concern or interest to other people. So no, I don’t really care because I don’t think anyone excluding my immediate family and some of my friends are invested enough in me to judge me.

I don’t really dwell on what other people might think. But if someone challenges me on something I’ve said or done I will reflect to see if they have a point (unless they are a nutter). Sometimes it’s good to have friends that pick me up on certain things.

I know a couple of people that have really bad social anxiety. It’s such a pity as it really is debilitating in certain circumstances.

I met quite a lot of new people yesterday and I was polite and friendly to them all, I didn't say what I was really thinking about what some of them said and I laughed at jokes that weren't funny. So on that level I care.

About what? I think I’ve responded on this topic above.

There and to the left a bit

It depends - mostly I take an "I am me, take me or leave me" attitude to life and don't really care if people want to think badly of me - I *know* I have decent values, and am a considerate and respectful person, and if others form a different opinion of me then it's their prerogative but I'm not going to change who I am because of it.

Occasionally a situation will arise where I care more about how I'm perceived and can go into over think mode when it happens but I usually get past it and remain unchanged.

I have it, and it manifests in different ways and situations.

Not always with what others think, or direct interactions with people.

Yes, I care, but not to the point of obsessing over it. It depends on who it is too, the more I care about the person the more I'll care about what they think of me.

I'd probably question myself if most people I met didn't like me, there would have to be a reason why. There's some people out there who won't like you no matter what, they are easy to spot and I genuinely couldn't care less what those people think.

Yes I do, more than I should. It does stop me saying things and meeting people as I don’t want to be thought of too forward or pushy. Plus rejection in person isn’t good for my soul. I try not to be insulting, though I was a while ago and am waiting to apologise in person as it wasn’t like me.

I do try hard not to let things get to me but my confidence goes up and down and the down times are when I’m most vulnerable to comments that are hurtful in my perception x

On here, most of what I type is pure stream of consciousness stuff. I don’t concern myself with what others think unless I get feedback that makes me rethink stuff. I’ve had feedback that has altered things that I post. It was for the better. If I disagreed and didn’t think it was for the better I’d carry on regardless.

If they're wanting NSA I find that usually means they just want a wet hole/ hard cock. The human attached is irrelevant.
