I know this has been done before but as we now have a lot more people on the forums, I’d be interested to know. I mean how much do you need over a longer term...

I need four.

Yeah, I’d say about 4 as a minimum but long term that might start to cause issues I’d think

I’ll have about eight at night, then at least a two hour nap during the day.

I had insomnia for almost three years - now I finally sleep. I’m never gonna deny myself sleep

Oh but I can function on about three, if I need to. I had a wedding on Saturday and had only had three hours sleep the night before, managed to stay awake 22 hours and wasn’t a moody cunt

I feel I need a lot of sleep, for me to function properly.

I hardly ever get enough sleep through a working week though.

And my mind won't switch off.

Every morning I wake up, feeling so tired and I promise myself.. I will be in bed with my phone off and lights out early.

But here I am again, dropping on my face for sleep and il never learn.

I probably get about 6 hrs sleep a night on average. My sleep is always broken by nipping to the loo though - so that comes in 2-3 periods!

I can survive on 3-4 hrs as long as it’s only a night or two - but I look about 10 years older by day 2-3 of little sleep!

On the very rare occasions I sleep for 8hrs plus I feel amazing and my eyes seem to look less wrinkly!

There’s been a lot of interesting research about the impact on health due to not enough sleep. A very interesting TED talk on it. I was going to say it was a wake up call, but that doesn’t seem appropriate.

It averages out around 7 hrs for me. I can do 6.5 and perform but any less I need to compensate. Any less and I'm useless for work - Gotta use the brain. Brain has to tick and it can't on less than 6.5. If around 4,5,6 hours I HAVE to compensate the following day to give it a rest.

Got a link for sleep which I'll gladly send.

People seriously underestimate sleeping! Good health, both physical and mental requires proper sleep. Performance, both mental and physical, requires proper sleep. Pain is much worse ironically with reduced sleep!

Unfortunately electronic devices have seriously reduced the number of hours slept, with children developing horrendous lifelong sleep patterns. Lots of research is being done at this moment looking at thesenew sleep pattern trends and links to mental health issues globally ... fascinating research

7 during the week, sometimes longer on a Sunday.

I need my sleep, won't compromise.

Broken sleep is the hardest, when the kids got over waking up it was blissful. Thankfully we are well past those days.
