i know we all have numbers in our phones of mum/dad/home and so on, but do you have an In Case of Emergency number?

its something the police were trying to get started for drivers a little while ago, so thought it would be good for everyone, tbh. a little morbid maybe, but non of us expect anything to happen.

so, if you put ICE next to the number of the next of kin in your mobile, the emergency services that attend any accident you have been involved in can look in your phone and find the number quicker.

psssst add more than just an ICE number, you wouldn't want to give your nearest and dearest the shock (or joy?)of their lives if you should lose your "I" or other phone.

I did this about 4 years ago. Also have put first name of my contact. You can put in more than one by putting ICE 1 ICE 2 and so on.

"Can you put it on more than one number?"

Its been around for a while and mine shows as ICE 1,2 and 3.

0f course the one thing which totally defeats this is if you have a lock on your phone.

I put my number under ICE in my friends phone recently ( hes not well and is often very disorientated )and 3 days later when he had a nasty fall and was taken to hospital the nurses were able to contact me . Ive had ICE numbers in my phone for around 5 years...its worth it !!!

So youre crossing a road and you see a bus just about to flatten you...

How clean do you think your knicks are gonna be when you reach hospital...;-)

Don't forget to put an ICE number in your play phone for when you are meeting or at a club!!! (I never take my every day phone with me encase I lose it). I have a close friend of mine on it who always knows when I go out to play.

Also, in case you do have your phones locked, put your ICE number (and the person's name obviously) on your splash screen. That way the emerg. servs can still get hold of your ice number by powering down the phone and switching it on again.

Whilst this is a good idea, how can the emergency services get to your ICE contact if you password protect or pattern lock your phone?

Got this after reading about it elsewhere...great idea and my parents, who both used to work for emergency services both said they know of of instances where it has been the only way to find out who someone was and contact their family.
