"Do you smoke, as that affects healing and scarring? Avoid the sun on the scar area as scars burn very easily when new. Even sun block may not be enough, try to cover the area. I’m healing from a minor surgery and was told to use Vaseline. I apply it several times a day. Apparently it keeps the scar from drying out and getting irritated. It might help you too?" I do smoke, but even the surgeon said I heal very well, as he had trouble finding previous scar matter. I was just wondering as it was actually in the muscle mass that was proving difficult to deal with rather than just the normal healing process, maybe I'll just have to deal with as each day as it comes and put up with the hateful 'I want to tear off my arm days' sensation

"Bio oil to help with the scarring, and as daft as it seems massage the area every day as it might just be the muscle and tissue settling after the op. That’s what I was advised after my breast op and it helped x " Thank you, I will give it a go x

"The feeling you describe could well be a reaction to the subdermal sutures, especially if Vicryl was used (most likely).Although it's tensile strength will be gone in 60 days, remnent material could still be present." It does feel real even I have been assured they will have dissolved within 3 weeks though

"I had an operation on my stomach as a baby and the scar has some adhesions to the muscle below. Sometimes it can be painful doing abdominal excercises as a result. It's like an uncomfortable tugging sensation. Apparently the only thing that can fix it is more surgery and that's not garunteed as it can cause new adhesions to form. I find stretching helps. " Exactly so.
