What do you do when you’re having a really tough mental health day?

Found myself in a bit of a downward spiral over the last few days, always try to combat it with a nice walk, a chat with a friend or a family member and some healthy meals. However I don’t feel like doing any of that right now. What do you guys do when you’re feeling low?

Similar to Pete, I don't try to hide from it or distract myself, I acknowledge it for what it is and carry on as best I can.

I allow myself time to just do nothing and wallow and I remind myself I won't feel that way forever.

Exeter, Bristol, Plymouth, Truro

Exercise it's the only way for me.

Get out in the fresh air walking or whatever you like to do outside. Clears the mind. Hope you feel abit better soon.

I make a list of all the things I'm thankful for.

Actually write it down if that helps.

Hug of support to thee

Sorry to hear you’re feeling like this. There’s been a couple of similar threads recently, must be the weather...

I’ve learnt that lows are part of life, so I go with them and embrace the feelings I’m having. It sounds crazy but I talk to myself reminding me that it’s just a phase and I need some alone time. Then I sleep. A lot. I prefer not to contact close ones when I’m really down as they take too much of my energy which is rather use on myself.

I usually find comfort in knowing it will pass, as it always has before, but sometimes are a bit more difficult than others.

Thank you, really appreciate it!

That’s what I would usually do, but all I want to do now is lay in bed and order a pizza, however I know that will just make me feel worse!

I make myself a brew, grab some snacks and either listen to loud angry metal at maximum volume,go and tinker with something in the workshop or jam out on the bass guitar. If none of those are working I head out to a very quite local spot with an amazing view and just sit

My parents live in a beautiful spot, I am heading down this weekend, lucky enough to be able to escape somewhere quiet and scenic, hopefully that will help.

I just talked to my friend, who gave me a wake up chat. Empathy, with truth. It's not always what you want, but sometimes it's what you need.

You just have to find what works for you?

Acknowledging that you are having a tough time, let yourself feel.

Remember it's as unnatural to feel happy all the time as it is sad xx

I play all my favourite, up beat music, loudly and do a spot of cleaning. gets rid of any anger and the music lifts my spirits.

if that don't work, I have a few films I love that lift my mood

I felt like this the other night and that I had nowhere to turn, so I put a thread on asking for some help and a chat and it really turned my night around and I got chatting to some great people. Hopefully you will get some positivity from this thread and feel better soon.

Always at the end of a message if you need a chat

I practice mindfulness, it stops you over thinking, keeps you in the present . It's a wonderful way to live .

I like to go for a walk, find a nice quiet spot , sit down and meditate for a while .

Then lay back and watch clouds .

I'm so sorry your having a glum day , sending a warm Welsh cwtch x

Thanks for the response guys! Feeling a bit better today and have decided to escape to the country for a couple of weeks, will hopefully clear my head and get me back on track.

Sounds lush. The beauty in nature can remind us of the good things that we don't always see

BP Auckland

I usually listen to ska/mod music and take a ride on my scooter but at the moment that's not even working.

Libido has crashed but occasionally get a proper mental horn.

I know it will pass and hopefully soon

Generally I'll wallow in my own self pity until I start to feel better. My mood tends to be a bit everywhere recently, but so far this week I'm happy which has been nice
