The Rocky Horror Dilemma

Newcastle and travel/hotel

So off to see Rocky Horror with the kids in August but the big question is who to go as.

I don't have long black curly hair anymore, I barely have hair all. I'm too lazy to goto the gym and develop abs at 44. I don't have a wheelchair and my saxophone is lost somewhere around 1986. I'm not slim, not female and really don't want to go as Christopher biggins.

Ugh

Go as whoever you want. I've been to see this tour 3 times already and going again at the end of the month. The best but is seeing all sorts or people interpret the fancy dress in so many different ways.

I'm a huge fan of Rocky Horror. Been many times and going again in October.

I've dressed as all of the female characters and as Frank.

First thing to remember is you don't have to look great or accurate.

A lot of men seem to dress as Janet as it's relatively cheap and easy. Second hand pink dress or a cheap eBay one. Blonde wig again eBay is your friend.

If your not too adventurous then how about a boiler suit (ask a mechanic or search around for a second hand one, lots of engineering places or laundries sell off old ones) and go as a satanic mechanic.

Officially licenced outfits cost a packet but the stage show outfits are different anyway. My profile pic was taken at Rocky Horror and consisted of the official Magenta wig (which I had but the stage Magenta has long dark hair anyway) a cheap night dress from eBay, black bra and panties and the obligatory fishnet stockings and suspenders. As for heels, again eBay is your friend but go for a size bigger than normal or an extra wide fit as ladies shoes tend to be narrow.

Even go in a suit with no trousers and fishnets. A pair of fishnet hold ups are dirt cheap online and you have plenty of time if you buy from a uk seller.

Brad in a red and black corset is good, especially if you happen to wear glasses anyway

Going to see this with the wife. We're not sure about dressing up. Would we be the only ones dressed normally if we don't?

"Going to see this with the wife. We're not sure about dressing up. Would we be the only ones dressed normally if we don't? "

It really depends on the day, time and venue. A Saturday evening is usually quite rowdy and almost everyone dresses up. Less so for the matinee but a high proportion still dress up for the matinee. Fridays tend to be somewhere between the two, but it does vary between venues. Mid week you find there are usually around 50/50 who dress up.
