I'm thinking of loading the car up and taking the kids to a few places around the UK during the 6 week holidays.

Where are your favourite places to go in the UK and why?

I used to love going to Mousehole in Cornwall, it's a long drive from Derby, but was always worth it. Used to walk the coastal path to Land's End and get a taxi back via a few pubs lol

Aylesbury

Wembury down near Plymouth. There are chalets and a beach with awesome rock pools. Then you can walk along the cliffs to the next village which is only accessed by boat.

"Scotland....because it's beautiful "

It is one of my favourite places but this time of year you get eaten alive by giant midgies!!

Peak and Lake District are really nice but I have to give a shout out for Snowdonia and Anglesey.

Fantastic scenery and some of the best medieval castles in Europe and a whole lot more.

Cheshire

I live in Cheshire but once lived in Brighton, although it’s a bit of a trek I love going there. If I don’t go abroad (flights not as cheap as last year to Asia) I may have a road trip down to the south coast at the end of the month

Northampton Somewhere

The UK has some lovely places.

Cornwall is a must, we went last year and fell in love with It. We stayed just outside Newquay

Suffolk is very tranquil, as is Norfolk

The Highlands, the Cairngorms are absolutely beautiful. Lake district but in the summer it'll be absolutely heaving. Cornwall and Cambridge are lovely.

My favourite is Brighton.

Why... the weird and wonderful mix of people that always seem so friendly.

Great for kids and adults.

Lincoln is lovely, with the castle and the cathedral and they usually have lots of kid friendly stuff running throughout the summer.

There and to the left a bit

Chester is lovely - the zoo is possibly the best in Britain and the city is wonderful.

Bath and York are both fantastic cities to visit.

London could consume the entire 6 weeks, particularly if you uncover some of the hidden gems that aren't part of the regular tourist trail.

Cornwall is beautiful, as are the Yorkshire Dales.

Pretty much anywhere on the coast is worth exploring, so many hidden beaches and small towns/villages

Day trip?

Dovedale stepping stones is around 90 mins away. Great for a free/cheap day out.

Castleton in the Peak District has some serious walking, you'll knacker the kids out there.

Further away, in Shropshire there's Hawkstone Follies with its caves and views. A little known gem.

The Isle of Wight. It always seems years behind where we are on the mainland- and I don't mean that in a derogatory way at all. I adore it over there. Lovely beaches sandy or rock pooly depending on which ones you go to, gorgeous quaint little towns to visit, fresh fish and seafood to eat and plenty of pubs too.

North Yorkshire is lovely and not too far. If they like trains, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway does all sorts of special events.

York is a great city and children will love the Jorvik Centre.
