Just read up on it and it seems that a sudden onset requires an immediate emergency procedure, so get yaself, or whoever you know is suffering from it, along to the hossie pronto.

I think I may have .... although had to google the actual term. I don't have it severely, (I can still use the loo without problems) but have the nerve damage to my foot and leg, without pain, caused by 2 annular tears in the lumbar region.

Can't say much else as I've been waiting nearly 3 months already just to see the specialist, so I apologise if I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Smiler was diagnosed with this in October and had emergency spinal surgery ... Damage seems to have been caused to some of her nerves ..

Was wondering if anyone had any experience of timescales for nerve repair ...

Sorry to hear that. I don't really think it is possible to say how long or even 'if' the nerves will go back to normal. However I've been reading a bit about it due to my own circumstance and it seems the faster you have the op, the better your chances are for recovery, so you may fin the feeling does come back.

I'm not so sure about me having waited so long so far

Its what is known as the "how long is a piece of string" question.

Not being facetious... It is..

Your consultant could give you a general idea, but probably wont for all sorts of seasons...

Everyone repairs tissue, nerves etc at their own rate... Plus exactly how hard have you been affected.

At best you will be given a safe or overly conservative response.

I can part imagine what you are going through and that youd like some encouraging news...

Talk to your consultant about You...

When you have the best diagnosis Then look around for "say" C.E.S. Help groups...

Holland !

Um, just had a case of "drop foot" which is a nerve based thing, which I have self prognosed as being due to sitting behind the computer with crossed legs too long while surviving on beer and noodle soup.

It's cleared up almost, but research lead me to prop in some B12.
