""Snowflake is a 2010s derogatory slang term for a person, implying that they have an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, or are overly-emotional, easily offended, and unable to deal with opposing opinions." Words are just tools. Use the wrong tool in the wrong situation and it's no good. Use it in the right situation and it gets the job done " Ok, thanks........jeez whatever next...

"Nah. Its just used by angry folk who get frustrated when someone either disagrees with their opinion, or feels passionate about something. I’ve been called it many a time, I don’t care, just shows how bothered they are about my opinions/views. ![]() No a snowflake is someone who looks for something to be offended by. . . A very good example are the SWJ's who plague today's society.

"Nah. Its just used by angry folk who get frustrated when someone either disagrees with their opinion, or feels passionate about something. I’ve been called it many a time, I don’t care, just shows how bothered they are about my opinions/views. ![]() No it's not. It's a word. A label placed on someone else by someone else. You can see by the responses alone that words are subjective. I think we can all agree that terms like SJW and Snowflake aren't being slung around as compliments. They're intended as insults, which is what someone who is losing an argument, or not very good at debating tends to do when they are losing, or can't think of anything intelligent to say. It's really that simple. I've always been called it by right leaning, intolerant, Conservative types who end up getting a bit frustrated by common sense and attempt to shout me down even, though I wasnt talking to them.

"Yep. Often does. It’s not even really a political thread. Well, it's a recognised political insult, therefore it is political!" Not really. I would define it as someone who gets offended easily, looks for things to be offended by and even gets offended by proxy! It has become political because I think people who lean a certain way tend to get more offended than others,in my opinion anyway.

It has become political because I think people who lean a certain way tend to get more offended than others,in my opinion anyway. " Personally I see it as an insult aimed at left wingers by right wingers, usually when left wingers are pointing out things like racism, Islamophobia, homophobia etc, it's a subtle way of bullying, but without the traditional officially recognised words being used, because the people using it know what'd happen if they used the traditional words they`d much prefer to use... The whole snowflake thing has come about as a direct result of the political situation, initially in the states, so, I'd argue its entirely a political topic.

Perhaps the left need their own word to throw back - "marshmallow" was suggested recently so I'm going with that ![]() ![]()

And why would that need pointing out to people who are more right wing? You do know there is a big difference between right and far right? This is part of the problem, a lot of people just assume right wing means all of those things you mentioned need “pointing out”.

"Hey-ey-ey snowflake My pretty little snowflake Ooh, ooh, the change in the weather Has made it better for me. Hey-ey-ey snowflake, my pretty little snowflake You've got me warm as a fire With the burning desire for you. Snow was falling when love came calling On this lonely heart of mine. You were standing there with snow flaked in your hair. You kept stalling while my thoughts were calling On every way I knew For one excuse to get acquainted with you Then I said Snow flake my pretty little snowflake Ooh, ooh, the change in the weather Has made it better for me. Hey-ey-ey snowflake, my pretty little snowflake You've got me warm as a fire With the burning desire for you. The ice was breaking and Love was waking in a winter wonderland. When I felt you slip your fingers in my hand. Now snow is gleaming and I'm not dreaming I know this is for real. The love I have is too much to conceal. Hey-ey-ey snowflake My pretty little snowflake Ooh, ooh, the change in the weather has made it better for me. Hey-ey-ey snowflake, my pretty little snowflake You've got me warm as a fire With the burning desire for you... One of my Dad's favourites. Jim Reeves " Love Jim Reeves ![]()
