According to legend, kissing the stone endows the kisser with the gift of the gab (great eloquence or skill at clever, flattering, or coaxing talk.

The stone was set into a tower of the castle in 1446. The castle is a popular tourist site in Ireland, attracting visitors from all over the world to kiss the stone

its a block of bluestone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle .

I think some on fab have been there , lol as found one or two full of blarney .

Went up to kiss it, but when I got to the top found you had to basically hang upside down and a little bit off the ledge at the top of the castle, so I just blew it a kiss instead

There is an olde guy there to help you lean back and help if anyone needs it. The Castle is in lovely grounds, makes for a nice way to spend an afternoon.

I never needed any help with the chat but kissing the Blarney Stone was fun

There was a nice older gentleman who worked there, who offered to hold on to me if I wanted to kiss it. Sure you'd have a lot of volunteers to help you Jo lol xx

I've kissed the stone - and I liked it

Even the bending backwards part was quite interesting

As previously said, the grounds of the castle is just gorgeous. I loved the wishes steps. I tried to come up with a wish for each single step, but ran out of them! I think you're meant to just wish for one thing

The whole area of West Cork is really beautiful, so well worth a trip. Kinsale is a very pretty harbour town with the best seafood to be had. And then drive along the coast up towards Kerry. Now let's just hope for some good weather

I'm not aware of any locals doing funny stuff to the stone, but then who knows lol
