Agreed.

However.

The Darwin awards clearly state that if you decide to stow in the under carriage of a aircraft you have a 99.9% chance of dying...

Desperation or not.

It is still highly stupid!!!!!!!!

You’re assuming this guy had access to an education. He had probably paid somebody to give him access to the airport and plane and that somebody probably told him he’d be snug as a bug in a rug in that compartment. The guy who survived the same thing 20 years ago said as much in the papers yesterday.

Same goes for you. You can’t judge somebody from a 3rd world country on the same common sense that we have. The guy has probably never been anywhere near a plane or read about people dying in such circumstances. He probably paid good money in good faith for that space in the wheel compartment, how the hell would he know the potential consequences without being educated on the subject.

As a society today we have truly turned into rather torrid people.Making jokes about a man who has passed away. A man who know doubt was running from something and went to extreme lengths to try and achieve it.No doubt he was aware of the risk but still went ahead with the risk. What does that tell you about his plight,no doubt it was desparate. He was still someones son.Instead you have people come on here making a joke about it in a bid to get a few chuckles.Compassion costs nothing. Thankfully from reading this thread there are good people also who restores some of my faith in society. For those who find it an opportunity to joke about it,its a strong reflection of the person you are.

Lets put this into a bit of rational perspective here,

He also knew he was doing something highly illegal.

Sneaking onto a plane.

Trying to get into another country illegally.

Possibly filling a job if successful that one of our young people from our own country will not now get.

Not to mention the fact he could have caused some catastrophic failure on that plane by spilling that water he took with him into an electronics box or or maybe itstead of falling to the earth his body jammed the landing gear from lowering properly or whatever. Had he brought the plane down with the loss of 400 lives im sure the attitudes would be slightly different. All you people feeling sorry for him think if YOUR son or daughter was on that flight. Would you still be thinking having someone crawling about the landing gear of your plane be acceptable. ????

I didn't find it particularly witty or particularly offensive. When you post in a public forum then be prepared for a backlash from some. Think of your audience when telling jokes that could cause offence and remember that people are more likely to challenge that offence these days.

It's either a personality weakness or strength but I have little sympathy for others. I have little compassion and am heartless. I am not moved by boatloads of migrants stranded in international waters, victims of floods or famines, injured animals or reporters shot in war zones and give no money to charity. That said I mean no offence and respect those who are moved and upset by such happenings. Live and let live.

I like a good Master or Mistress in the darker arts of comedy.. but only when it's coming from someone I know isn't dark and doesn't mean what they're saying. Then someone can make any sort of crude or crass, political, hatespeech comment when in entertainment mode.

It's not so easy to laugh along if you dont know where its coming from.

Which may account from the mixed reception.

I'm just not a fan of one liners. Prefer a tall tale.

So... The joke was intended to be crass but people got annoyed when others pointed out that it was tasteless and crass. Then people got annoyed and tried to defend the crass joke, because it was a crass joke?

Personally I hate the term 'snowflake' it's dismissive and used to shut down discussion in exactly these circumstances when there probably should be.

The joke was in bad taste, as I'm sure it was intended to be.

Where does one get such “good money” without an education? One does not even need an education to apply logic.

The majority of these individuals have family in this country already, they’re not the same tribes living in shacks that The likes of oxfam show you; merely to have you open your wallets. (Those individuals are living that way out of choice, they’re tribes and, not the same ones attempting to get into our country illegally; as they’re proud of their heritage and culture.

The joke was funny, stop making everything so dire. There are worse things happening in the world to complain about. This man was illegally entering a country and took a risk, it never paid off. His choice.

I find it to be of far poorer taste that all those attacking the op are, assuming because he’s African that, he has no education and has never seen a plane before....

Let’s remember the last one to have done this and survive is now in university. They’re not running away from crime and poverty. They’re here for free sh*t. If you would all care to look at the likes of Mexico and Venezuela, countries with far greater murder rates and levels of poverty. The likes of Somalia/Ethiopia/Kenya are not half as bad as you lot seem to think. The majority go back every year that come here. It’s hardly likely one would return to Hell once they escape now, is it...

My issue was with the 'junkie' comment, heard the joke before, not particularly funny, but I'm not offended by it.

However I served with a 'junkie' once, I left the service well before he did, never saw some of the shit he saw.

Good news that junkie is dead now, so no further burden on the state he defended and would've given his life to protect.

Yes I do get offended over some comments.

I laughed.

I laughed at the play on words.

I didn't laugh at the news report about what happened to the man.

I DID laugh at the JOKE.

No one said it was funny that the man was so desperate he hid in on the wheel and fell to his death.

It's just a simple play on words.

His friends have described him as "A very nice Bloke. Very Down to Earth""

Hardly breaking news. Heard that about an hour after it was reported.

Also, and let's be honest here surely the only people who find that supposed joke funny ate the few hundred people thato still think Jim Davidson is funny. The level of wordplay is pretty basic, it's not just that it's offensive it really isn't funny. This isn't a sick or bad taste joke that makes people go "oh that's wrong" or "too soon" or any of the other myriad of responses that bad taste jokes get. It's really not funny

Laughter is a spontaneous reaction when you read or see or hear something that amuses you.

It doesn’t have to be PC .

I’ve laughed at many things that people would find offensive if said in work or at church or in the company of ladies or priests .

Everyone has their own opinion.

I like the quick wit of some older comedians

Jim Davidson too Mike read and Bernard manning

Would you laugh at frankie Boyle? He says jokes far worse

I will ask my question again that i asked earlier to everyone.

If your son or daughter were on that plane , would you be happy knowing there was a stowaway hiding in a critical piece of the mechanism of that plane. Answer honestly now ?

And when you answer honestly would you be more than happy that the person fell from the plane dead or got his body trapped in key moving parts of the landing gear and prevented that landing gear locking in place. Im sure it will be a different story when it becomes personal to you instead of some random illegal immigrant. Ps i have zero sympathy for him and delighted that only he died and not 400 innocent souls above him.

You don't seem to understand that caucasians are the only ones that call others out on "racism". It's pathetic. Every culture makes fun of other cultures. It's entirely hilarious that caucasian cultures are the only ones being FORCED into being "multi-cultural" or they're "racist".

Go take a trip to Saudi Arabia and try to change their culture. You'll end up dead or spending life in prison. Do this in ANY non Christian country and see if they stand up for your "rights".

You’re assuming this guy had access to an education. He had probably paid somebody to give him access to the airport and plane and that somebody probably told him he’d be snug as a bug in a rug in that compartment. The guy who survived the same thing 20 years ago said as much in the papers yesterday. "

No assumptions need to be made here.

It is still stupidity!!!!

A basic human is designed to assess risk. You do not need an education for that.

If desperation has clouded their judgement, the overiding the human instincts should still tell them that nothing good will come from this.

Oh and If some guy managed to survive. He is the lucky 0.1%.

But also still stupid!!!

I can't believe that the OP is being accused of being racist because of a play on words using a "foreign" sounding name. There is lots of racism out there that needs to be addressed, but speaking as a "foreigner" this is nowhere near racism. Not even close. Shouting out "racist" for such an insignificant play on words just cheapens the struggle that people like me face on a daily basis. And I notice it always seems to be white people doing the complaining. I can speak for myself, I don't need some guilt-tripped white guy to fight my battles, especially in this inoffensive scenario. The joke wasn't great, but it certainly wasn't racist at all.

I'm not sure why you ate equating him with a terrorist? Has a plane ever been brought down by a stowaway on the landing gear? It's all a bit of a strawman argument really isn't it?

The real issue in the scenario you present is how did it happen? The raises a myriad of issues that really make you question where it is safe to fly too and from. Let's be honest it's a bit pointless the security we have at European airports if security is that lax in other countries. Arguing that you are glad he is dead because he may have been a terrorist even though he clearly wasn't is pointless, discussing how airport security can be so lax and could it enable terrorism is a completely different discussion than the scenario you are presenting though

The majority of anti-racism marches are filled with caucasians. The only people concerned with racism, in a country with hardly any: are far left caucasians. The majority of ethnic minorities don't have to actually deal with malignant hatred on a daily basis.

Of course I hadn't meant that those of other cultures/races would not call a "white" individual racist, they do, more so than we would to ever report them for equal or worse abuse.

I've received racist abuse as a white man from Asians. I would be told to get over it and no further would be done.

As I have mentioned it is pathetic as fuck.

Jokes tend to be funny when they ridicule those with power, not those who are desperate.

Anybody got any jokes about getting and STI and passing it onto everyone they fucked on fab and then their dick fell off or something? I'd laugh at that.

"For the people who say they're just laughing at a harmless "play on words"...would you still be laughing if the "harmless" joke was about ,ooh let me think, a big Northern footballing tragedy, or maybe a small blonde missing kid?

If not, why not? Only a "play on words"...

What are you going on about. No one is laughing at the event that’s sick, they are laughing about the play on words concerning the incident, race, age, sex is irrelevant

It does seem to be a rather random association. "

When did everyone get so fragile ? people just say things and get offended by things that they think they have to without being able to think for themselves

You don't seem to understand that caucasians are the only ones that call others out on "racism". It's pathetic.

So you are saying that no black person has ever called a white person racist ?

The majority of anti-racism marches are filled with caucasians. The only people concerned with racism, in a country with hardly any: are far left caucasians. The majority of ethnic minorities don't have to actually deal with malignant hatred on a daily basis.

Of course I hadn't meant that those of other cultures/races would not call a "white" individual racist, they do, more so than we would to ever report them for equal or worse abuse.

I've received racist abuse as a white man from Asians. I would be told to get over it and no further would be done.

"

Have you ever experienced institutional racism ?

I think the point being made is that certain human tragedies even years later are considered off limits even many years later. Start a thread joking about Madelaine McCann or Hillsborough or the Birmingham pub bombing or the Manchester terror attack people would be outraged.

But joking about a dead desperate African ia okay because we'll let's be honest apart from lefties do-gooders and snowflakes who think it's awfull people are that desperate and probably the guy who's garden he landed in no one really gives a fuck about him do they?

Yes, I would not get into Oxford with B's, yet, if I were not British and white I would. If you're going to claim that only non-whites are impoverished, you should come up north and, see that it is not a race issue.

If only we gave mansions and millions of pounds to our incomers eh, I guess easy acceptance to the best university in the country, free health care, housing (in the most prosperous cities in the world), income, child benefits is simply not enough......

Of course no one really gives a fuck about him, a genuine fuck anyway. People are dying all over the world, and all over this country, in horrible ways and sometimes the only way to come to terms with things like this if they affect you is with humour. I believe you call it "gallows humour". If you're completely unable to tuck some of life's nastinesses away behind humour, you'll have a long, miserable and friendless life.

Really? Because those that I know, have never ever had any problems.

Do you not also believe, that the individuals who do such things, are likely to do the same to the over weight, white man with the long hair walking home alone at night?

The fact is, everyone deals with problems, yet, if they're not "white" it gets claimed as "racism". The world is a sh*t place for most of us, why should one group have more protection than any other, when they're in actual fact the least likely to be targeted in any sort of serious crime.

Its Sunday. A day of peace and rest. Chill everyone. The topic of conversation is very sad no matter who it is. You only fuel the conversation by adding to it. Was a sick joke. Not at all funny. Death of anybody is never funny. So a little compassion. We are all adults here. Could be your son. Grandson. Brother. Cousin. Nephew. Death is never funny. Whoever it is. God rest his soul

"Utterly heartless.

That was someone's Son, Brother or Father.

Have some compassion!

Compassion for his family yes . . . Without doubt . . Compassion for the now dead guy? No . . Stupidity to this level deserves its outcome.

Just as the death of a junkie, no sympathy at all "

"I said the other day that the forum brings out the best and worst aspects of humanity. This thread sadly encapsulates that perfectly.

Some people really are beyond contempt.

Seriously?? Beyond contempt? FFS It's a joke. Word play. I found it amusing. I didn't go out butchering innocent people .....that's next week.

The casual racism, the lack of humanity, yeah it's all pretty fuckig sad in my opinion

Arguing that you are glad he is dead because he may have been a terrorist even though he clearly wasn't is pointless, discussing how airport security can be so lax and could it enable terrorism is a completely different discussion than the scenario you are presenting though "

You really are bringing out everything in your arsenal to escalate a simple play on words. Now your bringing terrorism into the equation. Never did i claim he might have been a terrorist. What i said was his lifeless body in the undercarriage compartment of an aeroplane could have prevented the landing gear from completely dropping as his lifeless body could have stopped the locked down mechanism working properly. Now when landing it colapses what happens next , pottential disaster. Why because he got in there and didnt give a thought to 400 men women or CHILDREN on the plane above him. You STILL havnt answered if your children were on that plane would you be ok with him hiding in the undercarriage. ???

I think that you should be doing your own research into this now. It's been reported on for the past two years. You have no idea that your own children are going to be the ones suffering institutionalized racism in the future.

Good luck in your quest of defending everyone else's rights, apart from your own...

You seem to be more comitted ti defending your rights at the expense of expense of everyone else's which is a bit short sighted really.

You do realise that human rights and giving a fuck about vulnerable people isn't like a cake, giving other people more doesn't mean you have to lose some of yours. No fact if anything helping those at the bottom probably benefits all of us
