"Being in Glasgow you have some awesome roads on your doorstep... Don't try to keep up with the tupperware torpedoes, anyone can go fast in a straight line, it's getting your knee down at 5mph is where the real skill is. *been a rider for 20yrs, I've had more than my fair share of offs in the time and bones do take longer to heal the older we get. " What do you ride?

"1) assume no one else is insured or can drive 2) ride defensively rather than go on the attack 3) assumptions are the mother of all fuck ups, especially on two wheels. 4) dress for the slide, not the ride.... Even if its belting hot its better to sweat than bleed. 5) don't push your luck, it does run out at the most silly of times. 6) research, research and research... Currently there is a nationwide bike theft spree on the go, look at the best ways to secure your ride And ride safe, stay sunny side up " great advice ![]()

What do you ride? " I'm currently on a BMW F650 sport tourer, had it now for 6 years and i am still nowhere near riding it to the max of its potential. Personally I'd recommend getting to a bike shop, sitting on them and getting a feel for the bike before you make a commitment and buy. Also if its your first big bike, buy 2nd hand... You will drop it, it will get scuffed and scratched purely because sods law.

"Hey I'm going to get my motorcycle licence and I'm getting my step dad's old Honda cbr600f super sport. Does anyone have tips or story's about their bikes/riding" My advice is to totally refresh the cbr6 before you go out on it after you pass, service it check the brakes, chain&sprockets the suspension front and back will need sorting also tyres. If you want to enjoy riding it these will all need attention,

"Without wanting to spoil your fun, I'd check the rules for what you can ride once you pass your test. Bike licences can be very restrictive when you're young. There's also a biker forum in here if you scroll down the list towards the end. Pop along there and let us know how you get on." I've done my research and because I'm 19 I can go straight to an a2 licence which I'm allowed to ride up to a 600cc bike
