What are you growing in your garden/elsewhere this year? Have you planted any seeds yet?

Bit on the slow side so far, but it's still reasonably early, and too early for much stuff.

I've pricked out (the technical term, nothing to do with yummy cock) some wild primrose seedlings that have grown.

For summer, I want to grow some Castor Oil plants, especially the huge red/bronze types. I love tropical effects, and most of the gigantic monsters do it for me, as does anything lush. May try some Gingers too - braced for a rush of red heads now...

I tend to grow mainly the same things every year. Boring, I know but we have limited space.

Usually grow bell peppers, chillies, 2/3 different types of tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers and various herbs.

Having "suffered" gardening for so many years, I seldom bother now! I get most of my bedding plants from someone in the next village that arranges a job lot from one of the major commercial nurseries in the area. Any profits from this go to the village`s Scout Troop. It`s a shame that I don`t do more with my garden, I reckon it`s as big as four allotments but because I let it go for a few years either side of my heart attack all the nasty s that would need gallons of killer to eradicate them have taken over.

Instead of strimmimg it every so often, I should grass it down properly. I would get some chickens to help clear it but I have a big enough rat problem with next-door`s avieries as it is!

The strawbs pretty much grow on their own and all I do is move them to a sheltered part of the garden each winter. They've already started to leaf. Got some runner beans in pots along with some peppers. Will plant some chillies when the weather turns in a few weeks. That's all I tend to grow in our small garden plus those are the better fruit bearing plants I've found.

Some lovely stuff sounds to be coming our way then. I do tomatoes too - and still have some of last seasons, that ripened very, very late: red now, and ripe for eating.

Strawberries are a good easy bet, as mentioned above, as long as the slugs/snails don't get them.

My banana has grown 3 leaves in the last 10 days too, due to the strength of the sun now, and these are lush monsters, if they get the right conditions.

One of my first plants as a child was a pepper on the house window sill - didn't crop really heavily, but had some delicious peppers from it. Home grown is definitely great to eat.

Feckin tomatoes, grew some last year and got hundreds of the bloody things, not one of them edible.
