It reminds me of what a Canadian comedian I once heard said when explaining how he gets confused as American.

The land in which the US embassy is built on in the UK isnt owned by the yanks, instead its owned by the Duke of Westminster. The US government approached the Duke about the prospect of selling the land to which he agreed. However the Duke's price was the state of Virginia which was confiscated from his family during the war of independence. Needless to say the yanks didnt agree

Canada was settled by us and the French but we conquered a large portion of Canada from the French in the war of Spanish succession (I believe). This was the war that we wanted the colonies to pay for, hence the war of US independence.

"I also once knew somebody that claimed to be descended from from blackbeard and thus had a claim to the state of Carolina. Whether it was true or not I have no idea. "

A 77 acre plot of land (now Manhattan, NY) was granted to a pirate called Robert Edwards in the 18th century by Queen Anne of Britain. After he died, the original document went missing and the land wasn't claimed until many decades later on behalf of the church. If anybody could find this document, and prove they were related to the original Edwards, they would potentially have a claim to around 65 billion dollars worth of New York land. Check at the back of your drawers, people

No, nothing like that. Trump trying to get Mexico to pay for the wall is just political point scoring, making it look to American citizens that he has the balls and the clout to make them pay for it. And as we know he certainly didnt have the clout to see it through. As with conquering Canada from the French, the land that was taken was split between Canada and the 13 colonies, which is why we tried to make them pay for.

"What is the difference between Great Britain and UK?"

Great Britain is the name of the largest island in the British Isles and is also a political entity consisting of three countries: England, Scotland, and Wales. ... As the UK's full name suggests, Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain, hence "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The British Isles includes all of Ireland.
