Gay Pride flag - crap dad.

Ok, I know I’m going to be hung drawn and quartered for this but I need a bit of advice.

My daughter has recently been to a Pride march and has come back with a flag. I know the rainbow one, but this one is red, purple and blue. Does it denote anything?

I’m aware that my daughter is possibly gay or bisexual and I really don’t care and yes we do talk about it and I fully support her choices. I might be a bit of a dinosaur, but I do try!

I just want to know if this flag signifies anything so as I can support as best as I can.

I think bi too.

Why not ask her what it means to her? She might just have bi friends.

P.S. I think the fact that you're asking this means you're not a dinosaur at all. If you were you wouldn't care about what the flag means. X

And it doesn’t make you a crap Dad at all .

When we were growing up we never felt the need to have a fucking flag to denote who we slept with did we ?

I still fail to see why there is a desire to shout it from the rooftops these days , but then I suppose I’m a crap Dad too

Maybe because in the "olden days" if you did dare "shout it from the rooftops" there was a good chance you get your head kicked in and/or disowned?

So glad things have changed.

Well done OP.

it’s cos you’re not bi. I have the advantage. However (and add this to your ‘spooky’ list) - my favourite colour is purple!

Crap dad has just had a massive hug from daughter! I feel the hug is for team Fab Forum!

And now I have to decorate her room so as said flag can be hung on the wall. Bugger!

Once upon a time , back in the “olden days” , that’s how it was , and it is this I was eluding to .

But since it seems to be a change for the better in most peoples eyes , I won’t be holding my breath . Just don’t ask me to celebrate the public flaunting of ones sexuality that seems so prevalent today .

I honestly cannot for the life of me see why anyone wants to tell the world who they like sleeping with .

I volunteer for Bi Pride UK, if you want any advice or support they are the people to talk to. Also running their own pride event on 7th September.
