Settings on a toaster.... WHY?

Bought a new toaster , settings are 1 to 5 .. used setting 2 and burnt to a Fooking Cinder.. what are the other 3 settings. Smoke Alarm Warning,4 Smouldering... 5 Call the Fire Brigade Why?

should have a separate button for frozen bread, the settings are for different things crumpets for instance would be still untoasted on 2 they need around 4

I don't think it is as my toast was ready in under 2 minutes, if it took 2 minutes I think it would have caught fire

no honestly you put really fresh crumpets in there they will need at least 4!

I toast crumpets for twice as long as frozen bread

Crumpets don't toast well. The outside burns while the inside remains doughy and uncooked.

Pikelets while thinner cook more evenly and won't burn. You can use a much lower setting.

brummy crumpet might be like that but ours up here are yummy!!!!!!
