Expectations..

In life we all manage expectations. I manage them every day for other people . However, more and more I find I'm not quite able to manage my own. As a result :quite often things I get excited about (in all aspects not just sex) just aren't quite living up to my expectations.

I now feel like I'm just seeking something more .

Does anyone else struggle with this at times?

How do you get past this ? Or is it a sign I'm just not pushing boundaries enough?

I get this massively. I think the hype and hysteria about virtually everything doesn’t help. Can’t but help feel that everything is overrated, at times.

On a mooch

I’ve learnt not to expect anything then 1) I can just enjoy what ever it is for that moment and then 2) you can’t be disappointed

One advantage pessimists have, gets the disappointment over beforehand and then it always ends up better than you think.

There's a line in a Cheryl Crowe song that goes..

It's not having what you want

It's wanting what you've got.

The Land that time forgot (Norfolk)

I have the problem of struggling to get excited about things in the first place as I'm expecting to be disappointed.

keep life simple for a while, pick something you enjoy but never get around to doing and do it and like others have said don't expect anything and you'll be surprised at what you might get, material things for me anyway mean nothing, it's great to have ambition mind it's a driving force in making you achieve but don't live life for work, work to live.

Lifes a series of linked recoveries, swings and roundabouts, the challenging times are most likely the times we personally improve ourselves and gain the most personal accomplishment as we come out the other side.....even though it may not feel that way...

Or

Stay away from social media or buying into fake happiness or lifestyles lol

Used to be massively like this, after a few serious bouts of mental health issues I tried mindfulness, it seriously changed my way of thinking, try the head space app for a start. Live in the moment. I'm a totally different person to the one I was 4 years ago.

Alternatively, expect nothing as you will probably receive it in abundance.

In the words of The Rolling Stones :

You can't always get what you want

But if you try sometime you find

You get what you need
