On a Monday Spotify does a recommendation in which 30 songs are in a created playlist. I've been surprised at some of the music it has recommended, and found new bands / solo artists I'd have never listened to without it. Not sure if that's the app you're on, but worth a listen

You should do playlists for different things!

So I have a gym, running playlist called 'Move that fat arse gurrrl' and it has AC/DC, Aerosmith, D12, Kanye West, Beyonce, Lizzo, Queen, Taking Back Sunday...

And then there's the erm... special one that we both add to and it has BANKS, The xx, Hozier, The Black Keys, Muse, The Weekend, NIN, Janelle Monae, Prince, Lana Del Ray, AWOLNATION, Arctic Monkeys, M83... a fuck ton more.

You can search for playlists via mood etc. I've recently found a Strippers Playlist which works wonderfully for get up and go.

Oh god I’ve got hundreds and hundreds on mine. I love making playlists. It builds from there. Different types of music, different moods, for doing different stuff.

Maybe you can search some of your friends playlists even get ideas from them

Unless you like Latin music. Then I have nothing English to list. I only listen to this type of music. Porto Rico is the best, most artists hit one billion YouTube views in no time.

If you fancy a bit of classical we'll have loads of suggestions. Beach's keyboard partita played by Angela Hewitt for example.

For your chilled out guitar with great lyrics you can't go wrong with Ben Howard.

Or for the funk rock try Primus, they're a little prog, but I shamelessly love them.

I’ve been discovering a lot of new music through films and tv shows lately.

I have different playlists such as sexy ones, soppy ones, songs to make me feel more uplifted, songs to sob my heart out to, etc.

Music Map is quite a good app if you have an artist you like and you want to listen to similar sorts of music.

I use the BBC Play lister to populate my playlists.

Basically from the BBC Radio site, you can add the track that's playing to a list. Then export it to Spotify etc.

It's better than trying to remember songs you like. When you hear them, add them. 6 Music is my main source...
