Has anyone on here tired intermittent fasting for longer than 24 hours? If so what benefits did you notice.

There are lots of takes on intermittent fasting ....

It works as you take in less calories and your body gets a rest and can recover thoroughly from eating.

Forget the 5:2 shit......

Just miss one meal a day.

OR....... just don't eat after six at night .... for 12 hours.

Seriously.

You need to have a look at Dr Jason Fung on the tubey thing.

OMAD and long fasts are very common, I’ve done six and ten days and I’m a 24 hour faster every day in conjunction with a keto diet.

I undergo regular fasts , I find them beneficial on many levels

In my opinion however I may suggest most people most of the time would simply find regular calorific reduction would achieve 80 percent of the benefits, with of course less of the dark side (oh yes like everything food related it has a dark addictive side)

So I think full and extended fasting are advanced eating strategies and should only be undertaken after graduation and self understanding achieved

24hrs a 14 day period is quite safe and achievable for most, medical reasons excepted if course .

In my opinion fasting does not mean no water or electrolytes

I have but not for health reasons

If I get down I fast for days and loose weight fasting is my way of controlling when I feel out of control.

I wish like some of you I could manage it better.

I occasionally do 5:2 fasting, but I do 8:16 most days. I eat between 10 and 6. I definitely feel much better than when I don't, more energy, less bloated, clearer head.

A zen perspective

Fasting should be a journey of discovery

It's not a fad or something one tries its something one understands x

What a load of crap fasting is a fad. Fat burning slows right down, metabolism slows right down, muscle loss kicks in as the body will burn the most freely available energy source, lack of protein makes the muscle even less resilient to this breakdown.

The body is very effective at cleaning itself out, eat clean drink plenty of water, that's it.

Do your research fasting diets are a bad for the body.

There are millions that do it every day, we evolved fasting. Look at autophagy.
