So happy, just wanted to share that this July I'll finally be mortgage free. Worked my bum off for it, two jobs, 50- 60 hours a week and now it's done. No more of that, mostly disposable cash now, let the good times roll!!!

That's fantastic Op, you must be over the moon; here's to hoping you have lots of enjoyable experiences with disposable income.

Well done. That's a great achievement!

I went the other way round. I started off debt free with a property and then got married to a financial lunatic so now I have tens of thousands of pounds of debt.

It’s a great feeling isn’t it.

Best feeling ever knowing you own your own home.

Congratulations

Thanks all, I'm going to take more holidays and day trips, eat out when I want and go to more gigs. Ironic but now I own the bugger I intend to spend less time in it!

"Hood work "

I obviously meant good work.Im not implying you're a gangster

Or carried out "hits" to pay off the Halifax early

That would be wrong.

Did you take them out or they were in your Dad’s name? Do you have the same name?

Did you contact the companies involved ?

You can contact Experian if you think a record is incorrect.

Overpayment calculator on Money Saving Expert site. Even just paying a bit more off each month can reduce the time and interest payments.

Nice one fella . Great news.

Ive officially got 12 years to go but could pay mine off tomorrow.

Im currently making over payments each month that are more than double what the repayment is required. At my current rate, i will be mortgage free in 4 years.

At 1.25% interest rate im currently locked into, shall i continue with my current repayments for another 4 years or pay it off now?

£38k left to pay off

Check what the early repayment penalties are. It might be better to keep overpaying. Savings rates are rubbish anyway.

Yep, we just remortgaged and are overpaying as much as we can (avoiding the penalty) to knock our years down as much as possible. Boring but I want to be mortgage free in the next few years/buy a bigger house/move somewhere else. MSE was a great help overall actually.

No debts absolutely nothing to do with me .

Different first name but same for middle and last name.

Yep contacted them and they removed it from there system but that doesn’t mean it will be removed from Experian apparently. Emailed them as no contact number and still waiting

I'll be mortgage free when I'm dead.

I'm 20 years out of sync with others my age.

Divorced at 41, met somebody 14 years younger, had more kids, started all over again with a house......ugh
