Good afternoon everyone, rode into Vegas this morning, staying in a crappy motel on the edge of town though, too many people in the main area!

Also needed time to wash off the desert before taking a look around. Don't think I will be here long, will ride out at dawn, not sure if thats thursday or friday though.

Good afternoon everyone, rode into Vegas this morning, staying in a crappy motel on the edge of town though, too many people in the main area!

Also needed time to wash off the desert before taking a look around. Don't think I will be here long, will ride out at dawn, not sure if thats thursday or friday though.

Wow sounds like a proper adventure.

Pretty good so far, almost a month in and only done about half of one coast! Skirted LA, decided I don't like it there, semi direction of New Orleans now, but had to divert here, because it is here... got an invite to a party in Texas next weekend, so will loop through there see what is on the road.

It's fun.

I do to, can get lonely at times, but get WiFi over coffee and fab is there.

Have to say the US is probably the least friendly place I have ridden, despite a similar language. I got more friendly conversation last year in eastern Europe than I have here.

That surprises me, I thought America would be more friendly.

I thought the same, perhaps lone bikers have a bad rep here, but the trust has to be built at most non biker stops.

I stick mostly to small towns, so the bike is seldom far away, and the GB sticker and bright yellow number plate usually gets some conversation going on a stop over, but on the road it's hard to get conversation started. In Romania I couldn't stop for petrol without a conversation

I have to agree with you. Though I haven't been to the States, my brother visited many times after the UK based company he worked for, took over a major US competitor, he spent 2 weeks each month for a year working there.

He found in quieter areas or smaller towns, he was viewed as the 'stranger in town'; people were personable but only just!

In his time in the RAF, he was in a joint RAF / USAF project. The Americans came over here first with my brother assigned to host then here. In return, he was part of the RAF group to spend 3 weeks at Andrews USAF Base in Texas (I think?). The hospitality on base was fantastic but out & about in the State, he got the impression that interaction with locals etc was only because he was with "their boys" who were doing a fine job!
