Fat and curvy are 2 totally different things.... why won’t fab or society in general acknowledge this fact.

What are your Definition of the two.

What one person describes as fat , another might describe as curvy.

I’ll happily acknowledge I’m fat, my partner though describes me as curvaceous

Here we go again!

Because none of these terms have specific definitions. There are no set rules as to what fits into each bracket and in many cases they over lap.

You say fat isn't curvy yet the definition of curvy is to have curves, I've never seen a flat fat person.

“Fat and curvy” is technically “Lumpy”

Curvy would be - larger hip and chest measurement with smaller waist

Do tend to agree with the above, of course everyone has different views about it, personally I feel curvy goes up to dress size 12, above that the curves are curving the wrong way

Because dress size is a given on defining someone’s figure?

A woman who is 5ft tall and a woman who is 6ft tall and both wear a size 12 will of course have exactly the same figure right?!

Fat shaming is incredibly ugly.

I'm fat, but have small breasts, so I'm not what is most folk's idea of curvy. Neither do I seem to fit the BBW or fabulous label. So I'm stuck with curvy until Fab decides to give in to my demand for a 'wobbly' category.

And size 12 at 5ft may not be what I consider curvy. I simply said size 12 is in my eyes is the max dress size somebody could be classed as curvy

Dress size is inconsistent across brands let alone heights.

In some brands in a size 12 I'd be worryingly skinny. Add a few inches and I'd be medical attention level skinny. At 6 foot I might be in hospital skinny.

Is the size 16 6ft tall woman fat and the size 12 5ft tall woman curvy?

My opinion was not meant to offend anyone, but in relation to what you mentioned size 16 at 6ft wouldn’t be classed as curvy ( certainly not saying fat )

And size 12 at 5ft may not be what I consider curvy. I simply said size 12 is in my eyes is the max dress size somebody could be classed as curvy

So why are you using dress size as a definition when even you admit dress size isn’t static?"

It was only used as a type of reference as in the max dress size etc and still stand by that.

All this really dosent matter at the end of the day if the person is happy who cares, I just gave my opinion

This could be the new FAB STRAIGHT, FAB CURVY

"Dress size is inconsistent across brands let alone heights.

In some brands in a size 12 I'd be worryingly skinny. Add a few inches and I'd be medical attention level skinny. At 6 foot I might be in hospital skinny.

... But the man hath spoken, ladies "

And yet again the woman hath set him straight.

"“Fat and curvy” is technically “Lumpy”

Curvy would be - larger hip and chest measurement with smaller waist

Do tend to agree with the above, of course everyone has different views about it, personally I feel curvy goes up to dress size 12, above that the curves are curving the wrong way

Because dress size is a given on defining someone’s figure?

A woman who is 5ft tall and a woman who is 6ft tall and both wear a size 12 will of course have exactly the same figure right?!

Of course not, but both have the possibility of being defined as what I ( and only my opinion ) would class as curvy

I’m a size 16 usually and I have a very large chest compared to my bottom half. I’ve never been told my curves go the wrong way, not sure that is even a thing. Such an odd thing to say.

Sweet baby jeezus!

Will there ever come a day when everyone will stop arguing about this?!

Everyone has a different idea of what is slim, average and fat.

Everyone has a different idea of what is curvy.

The two are not exclusive.

You can be slim and curvy, you can be fat and curvy.

Curvy is a shape. Not a size.

Curvy is when your getting chatted up.

Fat is when you turn him down.

No I’m simply giving a different perspective, by flipping what you did on its head and using a male body type that’s open to vast interpretation. The same as you did on a female body type - curvy.

And I’m pretty certain it’s you that’s currently trying to offer us a definition of what you believe curvy to be. Thankfully the Fab gods are open minded enough to let us all define our own body types in a way that we are most comfortable with.

What does it matter? You don't want to meet women who describe themselves as fat or curvy anyway.

"I explained why your view was objectively wrong just by using me. Maybe consider evidence rather than doubling down?

This is just a simple matter of different opinions, you said fact, maybe to you yes but to someone else no. What you see and I see could be different.

Can we talk about men who call themselves athletic but have no visible abs now? Because maybe that’s a similar thing of me seeing something different to them!

Ooh let's not. Body shaming is fucking gross.

Don’t worry I’m being tongue in cheek! I would never presume to tell a man how he can define his body, but apparently it’s fair game for men to do it to us!

I hope you don’t mean me as I gave my opinion of the definition of “curvy” not an individual.

From my perspective, fat is derogatory whereas curvy is positive. Different people will draw the line in different places.

There are some people (one in particular on this thread - you know who you are!) who view themselves as fat and I see them very differently. We have different standards. Who's right, who's wrong? It doesn't matter. What is more important is that people either embrace who they are or take positive steps to become more what they want to be if that's possible.

I think we should concentrate on the people rather than labels. If you view somebody as fat, leave them alone and move on to somebody you prefer.

MT here. I am Fat, just by looking at me you can tell this, its not self deprecation and or insulting to myself, it's just a fact.

The issue being is the adjective ‘fat’ has been turned into the ultimate insult. Whether it’s a ‘yo momma so fat’ joke, a troll in the YouTube comments, a comedian making a living out of fat jokes, a term used in an angry argument, or the characteristics of a disney villain, ‘FAT’ has been turned into a cruel, rude, cutting insult. Used by many to put people down and in this media led world said to destroy and alienate people.

There is a stereotypical view about people who are fat. We are lazy, we are slobs, we have let ourselves go, we have unhealthy lifestyles. Anyone of a certain age will remember Wayne and Waynetta.

But like any group of people's some may fit into a small part of the stereotyoe others will not . I work hard and play harder, an I as fit as I was, no but then a motorbike accident put paid to some of that. Do I eat healthy all the time, no but I do eat healthy most of the time. Am I happy with how I look and within myself hell yes.

I was at a dress down club last night. Did I care what people thought or said not at all. Do I love who I am, yes I do, have I the right to define myself as I see fit. Yes I do.

Be it cuddly teddybear, a big handsome man, fat, fabulous or even curvy (not really one for me )etc. That is for me to decide as in the long run it's how I see myself.

And for me we need to remember a few things

YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL

Now, you might be thinking, you can’t say that everyone in the world is beautiful

!What about beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and beauty is subjective and all of that stuff’.

And that’s true.

Beauty is not an objective standard or thing. It’s different for everyone.

But I would argue that every human on this planet is beautiful because of their personalities, their values, their souls, their minds, and yes, their physical features.

Once you start to look at people in detail and see all the colours and textures and art that goes into being a human, it’s a lot harder to write someone off as ‘not beautiful’.

I struggled for a long time thinking I was too fat to be deemed beautiful and loveable. This took me down a very dark path indeed and I had to start to look at myself with completely new eyes.

I started looking at loving kindness, finding things about myself i liked, be it my laugh or sense of humour, to well I think my butt is cute and built it from there.

I have reached a stage now that Indo see the beauty in myself and the size of my body makes no difference, but this also lead me to start seeing beauty in others no matter what shape or size they were.

YOU DESERVE TO FEEL HAPPY IN YOUR BODY

We live in a world where the media makes out that thin equals beautiful and fat equals ugly.

We live in a world that airbrushes and photoshops almost every single photo in magazines, on social media, on billboards, on posters, on album covers.

We live in a world that praises and celebrates weight loss, regardless of the reasons, motivation, or method.

We live in a world that tells us all that we are not good enough and should not be happy in our natural bodies.

We’re indoctrinated to see weight loss and shrinking our bodies as a healthy thing and yet so much of the time is it the exact opposite.

It can be wildly dangerous, unhealthy, and very short lived. The yo-yo diets, the fad diets even having a negative effect on your mental well being leading to eating disorders

Now I am not saying don't eat healthy here and if you want to lose weight but do it for the right reasons and the right way. Because if we don't the Chances are you’d never be ‘thin enough’ to feel happy anyway.

Your bodies are incredible and beautiful as they are. They don’t need to change shape or size for you to gain happiness.

You deserve to feel happy in your body as it is right now, this minute.

YOUR BODY IS NOT THE ENEMY

Our bodies are a work of art. A masterpiece. Reading this your body is working in thousands of ways to keep you awake, breathing, blood pumping, and alive.

It’s a miracle!

Body acceptance rather than body positivity can be a powerful tool to start the journey of ending the battle with our bodies.

YOU CAN BE AN INCREDIBLE HUMAN REGARDLESS OF YOUR SHAPE AND SIZE

So often the language we use about our bodies is the same kind of language we use for moral issues. We label different bodies as ‘good’ and ‘bad’.

We build these assumptions based on a persons body size and we judge their lifestyles, characters, desires, and thoughts around those assumptions.

But in reality, we can’t tell anything about a person from their appearance.

We know nothing whatsoever about that persons life, history, habits, health, or anything from what they look like.

We don’t know the struggles and battles that person may be going through. We don’t know the joys and heartbreaks they’ve experienced. We don’t know anything about their health or lifestyle.

No one’s shape or size defines their personality.

No one’s body defines their life.

No one’s weight defines whether they’re a good or bad human.

There’s no moral spectrum for anyone’s body.

You can be a good, loyal, empathetic, kind, generous, friendly, passionate, wonderful, and incredible human whether you’re fat or thin or anywhere in between.

So is it not about time that we stop this whole debate around how someone defines themselves and just accept that we are all different shapes and sizes.

To start to love how we look and how we feel about ourselves and also stop trying to put people down.

We all see it the body shaming of all sizes on here, the anti fat brigade and the anti thin brigade. On the long run we are all beautiful

Through experience, I do find some people have an odd opinion of sizes. I used to live with a male housemate and he thought this girl we were chatting to was chubby. We was a size 12 max. He did like girls that were very slim and no curves. Like a runners body.

I’d love to know what you think her body type is. You are free to use any Fab body type descriptive you like!

That was the OPs question. Ashley Graham is bigger than a 12 so what do you think? "

I’m sorry but that wasn’t his question, and I see people not sizes, I simply gave my opinion on what I define as curvy, why is this hard to understand??

So she wouldn’t be classed as curvy to you then?

And I’m pretty certain it was fab that asked you to define your body, not sure if that’s a man or woman mind

Sorry I think you misunderstood. I mean I hope you didn’t mean me when you said it’s fair game for men to do it to us

And of course I’m giving just my opinion as I’ve stated clearly

Only mean that fab asks you define I’m not defining anyone

But you are defining me... when you say you don’t believe a woman who wears a dress size bigger than a size 12 can’t be curvy.

That’s my definition of curvy yes

So you are defining me as fat then and telling me my personal perspective of my own body is wrong

I’m sorry your taking this so personally, but not once have I said your fat or would ever call anyone fat

Body shaming is disgusting and unacceptable, I have only stated my opinion on what I personally think curvy is.

Once again you’ve defaulted to trying to say the women on this post are taking things too personally, are getting offended etc."

?? You said I was defining you as fat ?? Please explain how and when I done that

I will wait

Because you are defining people with dress sizes with your “size 12” - you are contradicting your own posts now

"“Fat and curvy” is technically “Lumpy”

Curvy would be - larger hip and chest measurement with smaller waist"

It's a matter of perception and the women rule this one

"Fat and curvy are 2 totally different things.... why won’t fab or society in general acknowledge this fact. "

Curvy is not a size. It's a shape. If there is a certain waist to hip ratio, they can be the same thing. What about people who claim to be curvy, yet are clearly average, as they don't have that shape definition? They are quite small in the hips. Would you start a thread about that?

Holly

You describe yourself as average, what’s average who defines average ??

5.5” cock is supposedly average, your cock looks below average......... why don’t you acknowledge that ?

I’m fat their isn’t a fat box to tick tho so you’ll need to take that up with fab, who cares tho? Not me I think as long as i send recent pics to whoever im meeting then they can decide whether they’re attracted to me

It’s no different to a guy claiming to have a big cock when the reality is he’s 4-5 inches what one thinks is big another thinks is tiny same as what one thinks is fat another thinks is curvy

I have no doubt I’m fat but it’s not an option to select

My attitude is if you dong like what’s on offer scroll on by
