Is there a way of hiding them?

Cardiff

So last week I think I read in a post there is a way of hiding stuff on your phone.

Obviously for me its not from my partner, more from the kids or if I use my phone to show friends or work colleagues something.

Just would like to put the sexy pics out of the main gallery, is there a way?

I'm not very techy minded I hasten to add.

There's an app you can download that acts like a password-protected safe for naughtier pics and videos...it looks like a calculator on your phone so it's pretty ambiguous!

This is for pics we have taken, that we want to keep, not ones we have looked at. Jo

This, but also before you put your mind at ease try and upload a picture or something online. Because even though it hides the pics and vids, you may still see a video thumbnail when you try to upload stuff online.

I only know of this because it happened in public, and suddenly there was a naked thumbnail of me showing

If you have an iPhone you can select photos and just click ‘hide photos’

Then in your albums if you scroll to the bottom, there’s a wee file with all your hidden stuff

But are they still in the main gallery? I take pics a lot for work, I work day to day with builders and cringe each time I am showing them something, you know, the dreaded moment when they take the phone and start to bloody scroll....lol Jox

That is ambiguous

I use Keepsafe and it works well. I've now more naughty pics on my phone than vanilla!

There and to the left a bit

There are various apps available that do this - just search for "photo vault" in your app store.

Or if you have a newer Samsung, they come with a "Secure Folder" that is password protected that you can move pics to - although once you have moved them you have to remember to delete them from their original location.

Also if your phone synchs with Google remember that any pics on your phone will get synched to Google Photos so you need to remove them from there too (or archive them in that app, which only hides them from the main view).

Ooh ok, perhaps I can look at that then, I don't have any albums, its just a big mess, I'm just uploading building pics and they are all interspersed with sexy pics which is what prompted me to ask. Thanks Jo x

I've hidden all my pics and vids but they thumbnails still show up in my VLC player which is concerning. Can't play them but still, might need to look for another app...

I don't think you want the sync feature to be on on your phone if you have nude pics and vids, just saying

It’s in the section as if you are going to share the picture with someone via mail. Bottom row about five along

No, once you open the app and transfer your pics across they are automatically deleted from your photos

Cardiff's a bit far today but happy to do a a virtual one

To check if you have Secure Folder installed - you should have an icon marked "Apps" on your home page - select that and you'll get a page with all your apps listed with "Search Phone" at the top - where it says that type "Secure Folder" and if it appears just click it and follow the instructions to set it up. You can then move pics to it by selecting them in your gallery and then clicking the three dots at the top of the page and selecting "Move To Secure Folder" from the drop down. Once the pics have been moved check they're visible in the Secure Folder and then go back to your normal gallery and delete them.

If Secure Folder isn't installed you can either go to the Samsung App Store to get it or install one of the other pic vault apps mentioned in the thread.

To check if your phone has synched your pics to Google Photos you need to find the Google Photos app - you can do that by searching as I described above it's called "Photos" and the symbol looks like one of those kids windmills you get at the seaside - open that and it will display all pics that have been synched to it - if you don't want your pics to synch to it you can adjust that in settings. You can either delete or "Archive" any naughty pics from there.

Hope that helps, if you need anything else feel free to ask here or PM me

I thought all phones had a way to hide certain albums without having to download any other software

your imagination

My phone allows me to hide selected photo albums, so I keep all my naughty stuff in one album and hide it.... It also prevents me from accidentally posting a Fab pic to BookFace. I have noticed though that when I'm sending pics to friends and family on WhatsApp that the photos from my hidden album are available to send.... One wrong move and auntie Mary is looking at my boobies

There's a secure folder on android. Tap to set it up. Keep everything in there. Its pin protected.

the best option is really to use separate devices, kids are really good with tech, hiding pics on other apps is ok until things go wrong, I suppose though you're not really that bothered about losing the sexy pics it's more about protecting the kids

KENT / SOUTH EAST

Samsung android phones normally have a secure folder that you can move pics, vids and even access internet to. You can even put apps like Kik into the folder.

This is stored on the phone itself not a cloud and can only be accessed by password, fingerprint etc

All galaxy phones from S5 upwards have this.

Great if kids look at your phone as you just move the items you dont want them to see to the secured folder
