"Hello, Recently my trusty windows 7 desktop finally dies. I have replaced this computer with a HP windows 10 laptop. All fairly standard you might think! I keep all of my naughty pictures on an external Toshiba hard drive. This was encrypted and password protected using the standard BitLocker encryption supplied with windows 7. As the computer was on its last legs i removed this encrption as i was worried the pictures might not read over otherwise. Sadly a large number of the pictures will not display in my windows 10 laptop. IN the file i see the usual jpg mini icon thing but with the addition of a small padlock That I cant get rid of. I am not great with IT but i can hardly take this to the local conmputer shop ( dont want them knowing about the womens underwear and the anal love ) so i am appealing to you all for help. Rx " hit ctrl +a - this will select all the files in the directory. right click. go to 'Share With' - select Homegroup. This will unlock the files in the directory.

"that didn't work I didn't have an option to share with homegroup on windows 10 Computers are very frustrating!" Do you have an option to run as administrator? its a sharing thing, if you right click on the file and look for "share with" (sorry I am sat on a mac at the moment and I can't be arsed to fire up my desktop). If you look in the sharing options there are a number of boxes to tick to make the file available to all users. Either that or move the file to your user profile.

If so yes, try that or if it says "homegroup" or "network" or something along those lines. When you transferred the file over, it came over with administrator rights, attached to your windows 7 profile, now you have a windows 10 profile that wasn't the administrator, I am probably not explaining it very well, but just try sharing it with your current logged in profile.

If you try the former, try the latter.
