East Sussex

Relative A is invited to a wedding with a plus one

Relative B is not invited

Relative A brings Relative B as their plus one.

Rude or perfectly acceptable?

.

Is Relative B not invited because they are a twonk? I think it's odd they wouldn't be if not. Is it a big/small wedding?

I'd probably check with the bride if B is okay as a guest.

I say acceptable unless there is good reason that relative B shouldn’t be there eg a feud or maybe they have upset you in some way.

If relative A knows that it would be unacceptable.

If the relative has not been invited due to venue size, perfect solution!

If it's because there is bad blood, highly innapropriate.

I would definitely run it by the bride and groom first discreetly, it is their day after all.

Depends on why b wasn't invited in the first place

..a should ask first..just in case

It's not happened to us, we got married so long ago we can't really remember who we invited.

I think that's out of order, I know it would make me feel like I was pushed into a reaction. Say for example I didn't invite relative b because I didn't like them but I didn't want to disclose why, then when relative a says they are bringing them anyway it either forces you to a) have someone you don't want there b) have the confrontation or have to give explanation for reason for not inviting, which you shouldn't have to do as you can invite and not invite who ever you like to your wedding.

Rant over... sorry that made me blow my top, hate underhand, sneaky relatives.

I'd say it depends on why B wasn't invited. If B is uninvited for good reason then I think it's wrong to bring them along. Otherwise I don't see the problem.

Just interested in opinions. As I said this isn't us but something that arose last year with a colleague.

Regarding B - why would anyone want to go to something they know they are not wanted at?
