The missus went into the back of another car at low speed at a traffic light. No one was hurt.

Our damage was £100 to repair.

Other driver's car damage was just a small scratch on the bumper. We have picture to prove it

Ten days after she claims. One week in the garage and a hire car was needed.

I feel she is milking it .

Hope the photos the wife took show that she could not have needed a costly repair.

Bumpers are expensive and designed to damage on impact so I guess it could be possible that other damage may have been caused that couldn't be seen at the roadside. A week doesn't sound too bad if repairs & painting was needed

Well I have asked them for further details. First woman I spoke to was just going to clear it!

If she has gone through her insurer they will, generally, do the repairs then claim back off your insurers. They'll just deal with each other. An engineers report is produced.

(Its a huge racket I know).

Milking it would be claiming injury... which plenty do for low speed impacts. That is what you have to watch out for.

Oh and phantom children. People will claim there were toddlers in the back seats when they weren't.

If its insured then what's the problem and how come you know what they're claiming for? Should be a conversation for the insurers surely?

I had something similar a few years back, I hit a guy at crawling pace and you could hardly see the wee scratch on his bumper so I said I would pay private. He came back to me saying 700 pounds as he had to get the airbags tested etc he wouldn't let me get another quote either which I'm legally entitled to do. Just went through the insurance in the end, guy was a prick

Well it's my first claim although wife was at fault. Our garage said considering our damage she might agree to getting it done sensibly. But seems like she has had the works done for a small scratch on a bumber. Voice if reason in my head has fallen on stoney ground. First world problems of course

Yes it's not the car it's the driver and seems like we hit a bit of a witch.

Our garage has told us that that its a racket with instances of total set ups on the unwary.
