What slang do you have in your local area that you were surprised wasnt nationally used?

Mine is Skriking which for non mancs means when a child wont stop crying

Oh and Keks I thought everybody referred to their pants as Keks!

Bunkers as in kitchen worktops.

I had to tell someone the other day that Ken means know.

Too many to list. Every part of Ireland has different words like that. They either stem from gaelic, Elizabethan english or Scots in the north. When takking to someone from another county / country, most are careful to only use RP English and slow speech down. Some ( and it's funny to hear ) will just talk louder to strangers in the local dialect .

A few word from Cork city are :-

Beore....a young woman.

Flah.....a sexy woman.

Langer...a penis / or a Tosser.

Sham.....mate / buddy.

Cafler...an annoying sweet talker.

Many a funny conversation overheard at work when non welsh patients are asked "shall I keep your bag?" "Um..sorry?" "Would you like me to keep your bag?" "No..It's mine"

I remember this one from moving to Wales as a kid. Now children keep your chairs.

Huh? But the kids picked up their chairs turned them upside down onto their desks... lol
