Ladies ... Can you Knit?

I use to love watching Mum and her friends Knit things and they all tried to teach me , but can I frig grasp the concept. I have tried and tried but just cant do it

Yes, I used to do a lot of knitting. I made a few jumpers for myself many years ago when mohair was all the rage. Haven’t picked up a pair of needles for a lot of years though. But I always wanted to learn to crotchet x

I can do basic knitting, but I crochet all the time.

Crocheting is easier and quicker for me

Can both knit and crotchet, use YouTube for crotchet patterns and tutorials as I've not crocheted or knitted for years. Just about to finish a crocheted dolly for my grandaughter

I’ve tried many times with my old job of activities coordinator in care homes, I start of well and then it all goes wrong, I gave up in the end!

Yes. My granny taught me, we used to make dolls and things together. She was forever making clothes too, my siblings and cousins would all have matching style jumpers in different colours

One Sunday in about 1986 I was at ma ex's mothers house after dinner, her stepdad had gone to sleep, her mother and sister in law were knitting. Ma ex was knitting a stufffed pig, I eventually got bored and asked for some needles and wool. I ended up knitting a multicoloured scarf out of all the scrag ends for said pig. It used to go round the snowman for many years as well until ma dog chewed it to bits

Well I can do the stitches, manage a wonky scarf

But reading a pattern? No

My mum tried to teach me, I just couldn't grasp it

My Nana taught me to embroider though.

I've been able to knit since I was 7 but I prefer crochet it's easier. My mum can knit but has never been able to get the hang of crochet.

Yep, just in the middle of a Christmas throw for my daughter. My Nan taught me to knit when I was about 5, I pick up the needles every now and then.

I also sew and Cross Stitch, keep meaning to teach myself crochet but have never got round to it.

My grandma taught me how to knit when i was little, unfortunately that life skill has long been forgotten.

One of my ex's was a seamstress but i struggle to sew a button on.

I can knit and have knitted jumpers/cardigans for my daughter and for her baby dolls, knitted toys too I find them more fun as it doesn’t take as long. But I cannot crochet I have tried so many times, watched so many tutorial videos on YouTube. It’s like my brain just doesn’t understand lol

Yeah my mums the same. I've tried to show her several times. I think it might be because there's only one hook

I never quite got the hang of it try as my nana may to teach me. I was born left handed and got changed to right handed. I put it down this and my brain not being able to grasp it learning the wrong way round
