Don't send a short hi how are you message. Tailor it to them and what they've said in their profile. But equally don't make it too long so it's a bed time story. Find a nice happy medium.

Every woman is different so what works for one may not work for another. Plus there are other factors to consider...

If they're due on it won't matter what you send, there's a fire breathing dragon opening that message

A message that shows some effort has been made, thus is longer than 5 words or so. Light and friendly, reflecting that they understand me somewhat. If it's upbeat, positive and friendly, I'll take an interest.

Add some photos too, as most of the better first messages seem to have them.

Never add pressure
