"Heard this on Radio 4 and loved it. What would your animal be any why? https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/18/us/emotional-support-animal.html" I’ve always thought the idea of emotional support animals a bit weird, until I actually sat down and thought about my relationship with my oldest cat. I got Polly at 6 months old and I’ve had her 14 years. She was diagnosed with diabetes a year ago when we nearly lost her to diabetic ketoacidosis. We nearly lost her to us again over the bank holiday weekend and last Wednesday she had a hypo and only our swift action rubbing honey on her gums saved her life! It’s only these very close shaves that brought her mortality home. This set me thinking and I realised that she has been my emotional support animal. She’s helped me through recurrent miscarriages, unexplained infertility, cervical cancer, more miscarriages, divorce from ex husband, relocating to be with hubby and also another miscarriage. I know that the day will come when I have to let her go I really don’t want that day to ever come

"My youngest son is ASD/ADHD He has anxiety attacks, will completly lose touch with everything, often ends up causing major damage and often hurts himself. When he snaps out of it, he has no memory of what's occurred & then gets very upset I can recognise the physical signs this is building up, but usually nothing I can do to calm him. TeenyTinyDoggo senses when his mood is shifting. She will go and lay accross him. Lick his hands until he giggles. She's averted so many meltdowns. Clever girl " Aww that is lovely. Xx
